Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Technician to join our healthcare team. As a Cath Lab Tech you will play a crucial role in assisting physicians during cardiac catheterization procedures to diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions. Your expertise in operating imaging and diagnostic equipment preparing patients for procedures and ensuring a safe and efficient environment in the cardiac cath lab will directly impact patient care and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with Procedures: Assist cardiologists and other healthcare professionals in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures including angiograms angioplasties stent placements and other cardiovascular interventions.
- Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for procedures by ensuring they understand the process obtaining necessary medical history and preparing the patient physically (e.g. sterilization positioning).
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain various imaging and diagnostic equipment such as fluoroscopy Xray machines and contrast injection systems to capture clear and accurate images during procedures.
- Monitoring Patients: Monitor patients vital signs during procedures ensuring they are stable and comfortable. Alert physicians and nurses to any changes in condition or emergency situations.
- PostProcedure Care: Assist with postprocedural care ensuring proper recovery of patients in the recovery area and providing them with necessary instructions.
- Documentation: Accurately document all procedures patient data and observations during the cardiac catheterization process in compliance with hospital protocols.
- Safety and Infection Control: Follow safety protocols and infection control guidelines to maintain a sterile and safe environment in the Cath Lab. Ensure the correct handling and disposal of medical waste and equipment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cardiologists nurses and other members of the healthcare team to provide highquality patient care during catheterization procedures.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on pre and postprocedure care instructions including lifestyle changes and medication use.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Associates degree in Cardiovascular Technology Radiologic Technology or a related field from an accredited program.
- Licensure/Certifications:
- Certification as a Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent certification required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 1 years of experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab or a similar clinical setting.
- Experience with angiography stenting and other interventional cardiology procedures is preferred.
- Skills:
- Proficient in operating fluoroscopy and other cardiac imaging equipment.
- Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
- Knowledge of sterile technique and infection control practices in a clinical setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare teams.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond quickly to changes in patient condition.
