Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Spanish language curriculum aligned with IB standards.
- Lead and mentor a team of language educators promoting effective teaching practices.
- Create engaging lesson plans that foster a love for the Spanish language.
- Regularly assess student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Facilitate professional development opportunities for language teachers.
- Encourage cultural exchange and awareness through various classroom activities.
- Collaborate with the administration to promote language programs within the school.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with parents regarding student progress.
- Manage departmental budget and resources efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with IB educational standards and requirements.
- Oversee language assessments and standardize testing procedures.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers.
- Implement strategies for engaging students with diverse learning needs.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Stay updated on the latest language education trends and research.
- Coordinate extracurricular language activities such as clubs and competitions.
Required Qualifications
- Masters degree in Spanish Language Education or related field.
- Teaching certification in Spanish or relevant language education.
- At least 5 years of experience in language teaching preferably within an IB curriculum.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of IB curriculum frameworks and assessment strategies.
- Proficient in developing and implementing educational programs.
- Excellent organizational and timemanagement skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Strong problemsolving and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and English.
- Experience using educational technology to enhance language instruction.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
- Knowledge of current language teaching methodologies and best practices.
- Passionate about promoting the Spanish language and culture.
