Director Infection Prevention Control (IPC) Operations
The Executive Director of Infection Prevention & Control is seeking a solutionsoriented professional with healthcare leadership experience for the role of Director IPC Operations for Environmental Hygiene LongTerm Care Outpatient and Renal Services to provide innovative developments and improvements that promote a culture of patient safety and enhance system effectiveness.
The Director is a clear caring and courageous leader that brings a strategic approach to planning establishing and measuring operational IPC policies and programs across the region. As the Director you will oversee the implementation of IPC strategies for both short term and longterm objectives in alignment with Fraser Health s vision in collaboration with IPC Practitioners.
Detailed Overview:
In collaboration with the Executive Director this role is accountable for the development and implementation of Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) strategies objectives and key performance evaluation measures related to IPC Operations across our departments.
Provides expertise and leadership in the development implementation and evaluation of a Performance Management and Quality Improvement System for IPC; provides guidance and recommendations to FH Programs Executive and stakeholders related to IPC performance metrics and improvement. Supports and leads the development and implementation of IPC policies standards protocols and processes based on changing industry best practices. Collaborates with FH programs and services and with external regulatory academic and infection control practices to provide direction and guidance related to IPC improvement to advance system effectiveness and promote a culture of patient safety.
Supports special projects and research studies related to IPC initiatives; and advises stakeholders /partners of system revisions impacting IPC quality improvements.
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Executive Director IPC and other key stakeholders plans and establishes strategic and operational authoritywide IPC programs and initiatives in alignment with our vision mission and strategic priorities.
- Oversees the implementation of IPC strategies which include the development of short and long term objectives and key performance evaluation measures related to IPC. Engages IPC Practitioners and others in the development of the objectives and key performance IPC evaluation measures including the monitoring of key performance indicators related to system effectiveness.
- Leads the integration of the IPC program for all acute facilities throughout FH. Works in close collaboration with the senior management teams in these delivery areas to ensure consistency throughout the organization.
- Leads the development implementation management and evaluation of a performance management monitoring and quality improvement system for IPC; establishes and maintains the system to ensure a positive and measurable impact on both hospital acquired and community acquired infection.
- Supports recommendations and guidance to FH programs and Executive as it relates to performance improvement for IPC from surveillance analysis improvement evaluation performance monitoring indicator development and decision support systems.
- Supports the development and implementation of IPC policies standards and protocols based upon legislation statutory regulations and industry best practices.
- Works in collaboration with other program areas(ie WP Health Professional Practice) to ensure alignment of performance improvement initiatives and the alignment and optimal use of resources for tracking and forecasting of IPC performance outcomes and determinants for the continuous collection of high quality data such as reports advisories and warnings and the dissemination of this data to relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborates with a variety of program leaders to increase FHs capacity to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of its practices partnerships programs use of resources and the impact the infection performance improvements have had on the public s health.
- Undertakes special projects or research studies related to IPC initiatives. Ensures findings are disseminated to stakeholders and incorporated into IPC policies practices and processes.
- Coordinates performance management and quality improvement capacity building for IPC for all levels of the organization; ensures that IPC performance goals are effectively and efficiently met.
- Leads the implementation and evaluation of IPC education initiatives as it relates to system integration; ensures appropriate promotional and awareness strategies are in place to support IPC objectives across FH.
- Develops collaborative relationships with internal and external service providers including provincial services and other health authorities; participates on various committees and working groups and provides leadership as required.
- Participates in the Provincial Infection Control Supports Network sharing best practices tools and materials; researches best IPC performance and quality improvement practices to ensure FH awareness.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Masters Degree in Epidemiology Nursing Health Administration or a health related field supplemented by seven (7) years recent related experience in a health care environment including five (5) years progressive experience in infection control or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
