Job description: Lead Bodyworks
Location: Yelahanka Bangalore
You will:
This is a fulltime onsite role for a lead bodywork responsible for driving the design development and integration of interior and exterior trim systems in vehicles. This role includes leading a team of engineers and collaborating with crossfunctional departments to deliver highquality costeffective and innovative trim solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in trim engineering exceptional leadership skills and the ability to oversee the complete lifecycle of trim systems development.
To be successful you will be expected to:
1. Technical Leadership:
Lead the design and development of interior trims (dashboards door panels seats consoles) and exterior trims (moldings fascias and seals).
Provide technical guidance on material selection manufacturing processes and performance optimization.
Ensure designs meet requirements for fit finish durability and NVH performance.
2. Team Collaboration and Mentorship:
Manage and mentor a team of engineers fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Allocate tasks monitor progress and ensure adherence to timelines and deliverables.
3. Project Ownership:
Oversee the endtoend lifecycle of trim system development from concept to production.
Work closely with program managers to align project goals with organizational objectives.
Develop project plans timelines and budgets for trim engineering initiatives.
4. Testing and Validation:
Ensure rigorous testing of trim components for safety performance and reliability.
Review and approve design changes based on test results and validation feedback.
5. Supplier and Stakeholder Interaction:
Collaborate with suppliers to define specifications resolve technical issues and ensure timely delivery of components.
Act as the main technical liaison for trimrelated queries from customers and internal teams.
6. Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
Drive innovation in trim systems incorporating advanced materials manufacturing technologies and sustainable solutions.
Identify and implement costsaving measures and efficiency improvements in designs and processes.
7. Compliance and Standards:
Ensure all trim designs comply with global automotive standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain updated knowledge of industry trends emerging technologies and best practices
You must have any or a combination of any of the following skills:
- Bachelor s or master s degree in mechanical engineering Automotive Engineering or a related field.
- 7 years of experience in automotive trim engineering with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Expertise in CAD tools (e.g. CATIA NX or SolidWorks).
- Strong understanding of trim materials (plastics fabrics composites) and manufacturing processes (injection molding thermoforming etc.).
- Knowledge of GD&T DFMEA and DFM/DFA principles.
