Overview
The Network Engineer plays a critical role in the design implementation and maintenance of an organizations networking infrastructure. This position is essential for ensuring seamless connectivity data integrity and overall network performance. With the growing reliance on digital communication and data sharing a proficient Network Engineer is pivotal in optimizing network systems. Responsibilities include troubleshooting issues implementing network solutions and providing robust security measures. Additionally the Network Engineer collaborates with IT personnel to support organizational objectives ensuring that the network architecture is scalable and resilient to organizational growth. In this role the individual must stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices to enhance operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement network architecture to meet organizational needs.
- Configure and maintain routers switches and firewalls.
- Monitor network performance using various tools and techniques.
- Troubleshoot network issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
- Implement and manage VPN solutions for secure remote access.
- Ensure network security through firewalls encryption and access control.
- Collaborate with IT teams to support applications and systems integration.
- Document network configurations changes and procedures.
- Conduct regular backups and maintain network disaster recovery plans.
- Provide technical support and training to endusers on networkrelated issues.
- Evaluate and recommend new network technologies and improvements.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Assist in budget management for network resources and services.
- Participate in the development of network policies and procedures.
- Regularly test network performance and apply optimization techniques.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
- Certification in networking (e.g. CCNA CCNP CompTIA Network).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in network engineering or administration.
- Proficient in routing and switching protocols (e.g. OSPF BGP EIGRP).
- Experience with network security technologies (firewalls IDS/IPS).
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP and other network protocols.
- Experience with network monitoring tools and software.
- Knowledge of wireless networking technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud networking concepts and architectures.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Professional certifications in security (e.g. CISSP) is a plus.
