Job Description
Overview:
The Field Engineer PLC Programming is a crucial role within our organization responsible for supporting and maintaining Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems in the field particularly within the context of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) operations. This role is vital in ensuring the seamless implementation and functioning of PLC systems as well as providing technical expertise to support OEM clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install maintain and troubleshoot PLC systems in the field ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Collaborate with OEM partners to understand specific PLC programming requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
- Provide onsite technical support and training to OEM staff for PLC programming and related processes.
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments of PLC systems to identify and address any potential issues proactively.
- Develop and implement PLC programming solutions to meet unique OEM client needs and industry standards.
- Coordinate with crossfunctional teams including engineering and project management to ensure successful integration and implementation of PLC systems.
- Document all PLC programming activities including installation maintenance and troubleshooting in detail.
- Participate in the testing and validation of PLC systems to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their operational needs and provide technical recommendations for optimizing PLC systems.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of PLC programming processes and best practices leveraging industry knowledge and emerging technologies.
- Manage project timelines budgets and resources effectively to ensure timely and successful completion of PLC programming projects.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in PLC technology and industry trends to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
- Adhere to all relevant safety and regulatory guidelines while performing PLC programming activities in the field.
- Travel to various client sites as needed to deliver field engineering support for PLC programming initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Science or a related field.
- Proven experience in PLC programming particularly in an OEM environment.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages commonly used for PLC systems such as ladder logic and structured text.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement OEMspecific requirements for PLC programming and integration.
- Indepth knowledge of industrial automation systems and components including HMI SCADA and sensors.
- Excellent problemsolving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex PLC issues effectively.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems circuits and industrial control components.
- Experience in project management and the ability to manage multiple PLC programming projects concurrently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with OEM clients and internal teams.
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic field engineering environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Certifications in PLC programming and relevant OEM technologies are a plus.
- Proficiency in using PLC programming software and tools such as Siemens TIA Portal and Rockwell RSLogix.
- Adaptability to travel to client sites as required and work in diverse industrial environments.
- Commitment to upholding professional and ethical standards in all PLC programming activities.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to PLC programming and field engineering.
