Job description: Test Engineer Battery Pack Design
Experience: 4years
Location: Yelahanka Bangalore
You will:
- Carry out Engineering tests on Battery Pack(s) designs in accordance with documented test plans and procedures to verify compliance to functional specifications
- Prepare review and present engineering test reports detailing performance parameters as required and documented in the test plan(s)
- Participate in engineering test plan and xFMEA discussions to provide insights on failure modes and corner case tests that must be included
- Prepare test setup as needed including but not limited to preparation of jigs and fixtures test equipment automation/test script and measurement modules
- Plan & carry out regression testing on design improvements or corrections as needed and report on compliance to functional requirements for the battery pack(s)
- Evaluate & implement all safety requirements in the test environment for engineering tests
- Carry out tests related to benchmarking battery pack designs
- Perform independent review of design margins and provide insights on battery pack utilization construction safety and efficiency
To be successful you will be expected to:
- Deliver Engineering test reports on Battery pack design(s) to highlight design margins safety utilization efficiency and derating performance.
- Independently review and comment on adequacy and accuracy of test plans and procedures
- Carry out system level integration efficiency and safety tests for battery pack(s)
- Review constructional features for Battery pack design(s) and provide technical report(s) against functional DFx manufacturability and Maintainability requirements
- Demonstrate progressive enhancement in accuracy and efficiency of executing engineering tests through incremental automation
- Communicate issues and nonconformances on functional requirements to the development team in a timely and structured documentation process like JiRA board(s)
- Demonstrate compliance of development efforts to the department s documented processes and procedures
You must have any or a combination of any of the following skills:
- B.Tech/Diploma in Engineering or equivalent
- 4 years of experience as battery systems test engineer (automotive)
- Demonstrated experience in carrying out Battery pack design verification tests including but not limited to constructional reviews Functional testing Regulatory tests safety tests & Environmental testing
- Exposure to engineering theory and principles of automotive energy storage systems & functional safety (ISO 26262)
- Excellent testing automation & application skills
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Experience in identifying critical issues in battery pack design and process issues including: electrical isolation sealing thermal management interconnection and vibration management and EMI/EMC
- Handson Experience in usage of test equipment such as DSO DMM Spectrum Analyzer Close field probeset Vibration Jigs Drop test standards etc.
- Exposure to Solidworks for modelling and drafting
- Exposure to frequent use of 2D and 3D CAD (Catia and/or SolidWorks) modelling and GD&T
- Exposure and experience in releasing engineering documentation on PLM systems
- Experience in testing battery pack(s) to verify performance against ASTM & ISO standards for Vibration Sealing Shock and Drop
- Familiarity with UL/EN/IEC flammability and safety standards
