Overview
The Senior Hairdresser plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional hair services to clients while leading a team of junior stylists in a salon environment. This role not only involves cutting coloring and styling hair to meet clients needs but also requires the ability to mentor and provide guidance to other staff members. As a Senior Hairdresser you will be responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere for clients ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction and managing salon operations during your shifts. Your expertise and creativity will contribute to the overall reputation of the salon attracting new clients and retaining the existing ones. This position requires a blend of artistic skill technical knowledge and interpersonal abilities making it an essential role in the success of the salon. By establishing longterm relationships with clients and staying updated on hair trends and techniques the Senior Hairdresser will significantly influence the salons growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a range of hair services including cuts colors and styles.
- Consult with clients to determine their hair care needs and preferences.
- Educate clients on hair care maintenance and product usage.
- Train and mentor junior stylists and apprentices.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the salon.
- Develop and implement creative hairstyles for special events.
- Stay updated with the latest hair trends and techniques through continuing education.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to encourage loyalty.
- Assist in managing inventory and ordering salon supplies.
- Participate in promotional events and marketing initiatives for the salon.
- Handle client complaints and resolve issues professionally.
- Manage appointment schedules and ensure timely service delivery.
- Demonstrate advanced hair styling techniques to clients and team members.
- Collaborate with other salon staff to enhance overall service quality.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; state cosmetology license required.
- At least 5 years of experience in a professional salon setting.
- Proven expertise in cutting coloring and styling a wide variety of hair types.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment with strong multitasking abilities.
- A portfolio showcasing previous work and stylistic trends.
- Familiarity with salon management software is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of hair products and tools.
- Experience in mentoring or teaching junior staff preferred.
- Willingness to attend workshops and training sessions.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Strong problemsolving abilities and client service orientation.
- Must be physically able to stand for long periods.
