Job Title: MD DNB General Medicine Consultant
Overview
The MD DNB General Medicine Consultant plays a vital role in our healthcare team providing comprehensive medical care to patients with a wide range of illnesses. This position is crucial for ensuring highquality treatment plans and patient outcomes. As a consultant you will lead case evaluations diagnose conditions and implement effective treatment strategies within a collaborative environment. You will also contribute to medical education and quality improvement initiatives. The consultant serves as a cornerstone of patient care establishing a trusting relationship with patients while guiding and overseeing the work of junior staff and residents. Your expertise in general medicine will enhance the service capabilities of the institution fostering a culture of excellence in clinical practice and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments through health history and physical examinations.
- Diagnose a variety of medical conditions and health concerns.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and imaging studies.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment based on results.
- Provide patient education regarding conditions and treatment options.
- Consult with other healthcare professionals regarding complex cases.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and residents.
- Participate in medical rounds and clinical meetings.
- Conduct research and stay updated on advancements in general medicine.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and institutional policies.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives within the department.
- Participate in oncall duties as required.
- Foster a compassionate environment for patients and their families.
- Contribute to the development of clinical protocols and guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- MD or equivalent degree from an accredited medical school.
- DNB in General Medicine or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
- Valid medical license to practice medicine in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Strong foundational knowledge of general medicine principles.
- Minimum of 35 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Commitment to patientcentered care and ethical practice.
- Continuing education in medical advancements and practices.
- Research experience and participation in clinical trials are preferred.
- Commitment to quality assurance and performance improvement.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
