Mainframe Natural Adabas Developer
Overview
The Mainframe Natural Adabas Developer plays a critical role in the IT department focusing on the design development and maintenance of applications using Natural and Adabas technology. This position is essential for organizations that rely on legacy systems as these applications are pivotal for daytoday operations and support vital business processes. The developer will work closely with system architects business analysts and system users to ensure that the applications meet the necessary standards in terms of functionality performance and security. With the continued evolution of technology this role also encompasses the need for adaptation and integration of new solutions into existing frameworks. Therefore proficiency in Natural and Adabas among other technologies is not only preferred but essential for driving the success of the departments projects and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design develop and implement applications using Natural and Adabas.
- Perform system analysis requirements gathering and technical specifications development.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to integrate systems and applications.
- Conduct performance tuning and optimization of existing Natural and Adabas applications.
- Develop and execute test plans ensuring highquality software deliverables.
- Maintain documentation for all software components and system changes.
- Provide technical support and maintenance for existing applications.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.
- Utilize SQL for database querying and manipulation as required.
- Assist in troubleshooting and debugging issues in the production environment.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in mainframe development.
- Mentor junior developers and provide guidance on project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Contribute to project planning and estimation activities.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to define new features and enhancements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
- Minimum of 35 years of experience in Mainframe development.
- Strong programming proficiency in Natural.
- Experience with Adabas database management system.
- Familiarity with mainframe environments and tools.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies.
- Experience with implementation and maintenance of legacy systems.
- Ability to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Solid understanding of SQL querying and databases.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with version control systems.
- Capability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and adopt new technologies.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance in the software development process.
