Overview
The ServiceNow ITAM CMDB Developer plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within the ServiceNow platform. This position is vital as it ensures accurate asset management and alignment between various IT service components and business services. By developing and implementing strategies for CMDB management IT Asset Management (ITAM) and integration with other tools and systems the developer will contribute to improved operational efficiency and decisionmaking capabilities across the organization. The role requires strong technical skills in ServiceNow along with a solid understanding of asset management processes. As organizations increasingly rely on comprehensive and uptodate configuration data to drive their IT strategies the ITAM CMDB Developer becomes the cornerstone that enables organizations to derive valuable insights from their asset data ultimately enhancing service delivery and minimizing risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) in ServiceNow.
- Implement best practices for data management and configuration item (CI) relationships.
- Design and deploy automation scripts for CI lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements for CMDB enhancements.
- Conduct regular audits of the CMDB to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Integrate ServiceNow with other ITSM tools and platforms for seamless data flow.
- Support IT Asset Management (ITAM) processes and workflows.
- Provide technical guidance and training to team members and endusers.
- Assist in developing documentation for processes policies and training materials.
- Monitor and resolve issues related to the CMDB and asset management processes.
- Participate in change management and configuration control processes.
- Enhance user experience by analyzing and optimizing existing CMDB modules.
- Work on performance tuning and improvements of the ServiceNow platform.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure proper CI documentation and management.
- Stay current with ServiceNow releases and features to provide recommendations for upgrades.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
- 3 years of experience developing within the ServiceNow platform.
- Strong knowledge of Configuration Management and IT Asset Management processes.
- Handson experience with ServiceNow scripting languages (JavaScript GlideScript).
- Experience in data modeling and database management concepts.
- Proficient in ServiceNow Discovery and integration capabilities.
- Familiarity with ITIL framework and best practices.
- Ability to analyze complex data sets and interpret findings.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Experience with ServiceNow upgrades and implementations.
- Ability to work collaboratively in crossfunctional teams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problemsolving skills.
- ServiceNow certifications (e.g. Certified Application Developer) are a plus.
- Knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs for integration tasks.
- Understanding of change management and impact assessment processes.
- Professional experience with reporting and dashboarding tools in ServiceNow.
