Job Description
Overview:The MS SQL Administrator plays a critical role in managing optimizing and maintaining the organizations database systems. This position is essential for ensuring data integrity availability and security across all platforms. By utilizing advanced technical skills the SQL Admin works to support the organizations data needs assists application development teams in database design and implements industry best practices for performance and reliability. The MS SQL Admin is responsible for installing and configuring SQL Server instances managing backups and implementing disaster recovery plans. As the custodian of the data architecture the SQL Admin must continuously monitor system performance and tune queries to enhance efficiency. With the proliferation of datadriven decisions this role is vital to safeguarding assets and leveraging data to drive business growth.
- Key Responsibilities:Install and configure MS SQL Server instances.
- Manage database security including user access and roles.
- Design and implement backup and recovery strategies.
- Monitor and tune database performance and ensure high availability.
- Develop and maintain efficient TSQL scripts.
- Facilitate database migrations and upgrades.
- Implement replication strategies for data redundancy.
- Create and maintain documentation for the database environment.
- Assist in troubleshooting databaserelated issues.
- Establish monitoring solutions for database health.
- Coordinate with application developers to optimize database schema.
- Enforce compliance with data governance and regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular database audits and performance assessments.
- Evaluate new database technologies and tools.
- Provide training and support to other IT staff on SQL Server best practices.
- Required Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 4 years of experience in MS SQL Server administration.
- Strong knowledge of TSQL programming.
- Experience with performance optimization and tuning.
- Familiarity with SSMS SSIS and SSRS tools.
- Understanding of backup and recovery practices.
- Certifications such as MCSA or MCSE in SQL Server are a plus.
- Proven experience in security implementations for SQL databases.
- Ability to collaborate with crossfunctional teams.
- Excellent problemsolving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in cloud database management (Azure AWS) preferred.
- Knowledge of data modeling and normalization principles.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Experience with automated monitoring and alerting tools.
- Passion for learning new technologies and best practices.
