Provides health care services by applying xray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs Radiographic procedures and related techniques producing images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Performs computed tomography and related procedures to demonstrate sectional anatomic images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for the successful completion of the procedure.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs diagnostic radiography procedures
- Corroborates patients clinical history with the procedure assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
- Prepares patient for procedures; provides instructions to obtain desired results gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
- Selects and operates radiography equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results.
- Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest respecting patient ability and comfort.
- Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination.
- Determines radiographic technique exposure factors minimizing exposure to patients and others.
- Evaluates images for technical quality assuring proper identification is recorded.
- Verifies informed consent for and assists a licensed practitioner with interventional procedures.
- Practices aseptic techniques as necessary.
- Assumes responsibility for the provision of physical and emotional needs of patients during procedures.
- In agreement with state statute(s) and/or where institutional policy permits: prepares identifies and/or administers contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Initiates basic life support action when necessary.
- Assists licensed practitioners with Fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiography procedures.
Computed tomographyspecific duties
- Operates Computed Tomographic equipment and accessories.
- Select the appropriate program for the desired protocol.
- Understands methods and is capable of performing venipunctures.
- Evaluate images for technical quality manipulate display parameters and provide hard copy records assuring proper identification.
- Maintains archival storage of digitized data as appropriate.
- Maintains knowledge of and observes Universal precautions.
- Provides patient education.
- Assists in maintaining records respecting confidentiality and establishing policy.
- Assumes responsibility for assigned area and reports equipment malfunction.
- Provides input for equipment purchase and supply decisions.
- Provides practical instruction for students and/or other health care professionals.
- Participates in the departments quality assessment and improvement plan. May be responsible for specific quality control duties in the assigned area.
- May be responsible for control of inventory and purchase of supplies for the assigned area.
- Understands and applies patient relations skills.
- Pursues the appropriate continuing education needed to maintain a license or certification.
- Accomplishes other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION
Experience:
- Must have at least 3 years of diagnostic CT background.
Education:
- Completion of formal Radiologic Technology accredited program.
Licenses Certifications and/or Registration:
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in radiography and CT or equivalent required by state of Oregon.
- Licensed in the State of Oregon as a Radiologic Technologist/CT Technologist.
- Current BLS certification. is required
EMR System: EPIC experience preferred
Shift: Days Swing Shift 10:302000 typically MondayThursdays with some potential shift changes if coverage is needed.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Bilingual and/or EnglishSpanish speaking preferred.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse populations desired.
