Job Description
Job Title: Head of Research & Development (R&D)
Job Location : Hyderabad India
The Head of Research & Development (R&D) is responsible for leading and managing the organization s innovation and development activities. This includes driving the creation of new products optimizing processes and fostering a culture of scientific excellence and collaboration. The role requires strategic vision leadership skills and deep technical expertise to align R&D efforts with business objectives ensuring the company remains competitive and innovative in the marketplace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement the R&D strategy to support the organization s growth innovation and market leadership.
- Identify emerging trends technologies and opportunities in the chemical industry to drive innovation.
- Align R&D objectives with business goals and collaborate with senior leadership to prioritize projects.
- Innovation & Product Development:
- Oversee the development of new chemical products formulations or materials to meet customer needs and market demands.
- Ensure the successful commercialization of R&D outputs collaborating with marketing sales and production teams.
- Encourage and guide teams to adopt sustainable ecofriendly practices and solutions.
- Process Development & Optimization:
- Drive the optimization of manufacturing processes to improve efficiency quality and costeffectiveness.
- Ensure scalability of labscale developments to fullscale production while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead mentor and inspire a multidisciplinary team of researchers scientists and engineers.
- Foster a culture of innovation collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Recruit train and retain top talent to strengthen the R&D function.
- Collaboration & CrossFunctional Engagement:
- Work closely with other departments such as production quality assurance and sales to ensure the alignment of R&D projects with operational and market needs.
- Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including academic institutions research organizations and industry partners.
- Budget & Resource Management:
- Manage the R&D budget ensuring efficient allocation of resources to highpriority projects.
- Identify and invest in new technologies equipment and tools to enhance R&D capabilities.
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all R&D activities comply with industry regulations environmental guidelines and safety standards.
- Oversee the documentation of research findings patents and technical reports to protect intellectual property.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Education:
- Master s or PhD in Chemistry Chemical Engineering Material Science or a related field.
- Experience:
- 10 years of experience in the chemical industry with a strong background in R&D.
- At least 5 years in a senior or leadership role managing R&D teams and projects.
- Technical Expertise:
- Indepth knowledge of chemical processes product development and industry trends.
- Experience with scaling up from laboratory research to fullscale production.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks safety standards and intellectual property management.
- Skills:
- Strategic thinking and the ability to translate business objectives into R&D goals.
- Strong leadership communication and project management abilities.
- Proven track record of driving innovation and delivering successful R&D outcomes.
