With supplies to over 60 countries the company supplies to over 1000 customers globally including various multinationals .
Position Summary:
The Senior Purchase Manager for Raw Materials is responsible for managing the procurement of raw materials (local and imported) required for the production processes in the chemical industry. This role involves strategic sourcing supplier relationship management cost optimization and ensuring uninterrupted material availability while maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in procurement particularly in handling raw materials within the chemical sector and will have strong negotiation analytical and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Procurement & Sourcing:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for sourcing raw materials from both local and international markets.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers ensuring a competitive and reliable supply base.
- Negotiate pricing terms and conditions to secure the best value for the organization.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality compliance.
- Monitor supplier performance including adherence to delivery schedules quality standards and cost agreements.
- Address and resolve supply chain disruptions or disputes promptly.
- Import & Export Management:
- Oversee all import activities including coordination with freight forwarders customs brokers and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and documentation requirements.
- Optimize logistics and shipping processes to minimize lead times and costs.
- Inventory Management:
- Collaborate with production and planning teams to forecast raw material needs accurately.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
- Implement inventory control mechanisms to minimize wastage and maximize efficiency.
- Cost Management:
- Monitor and manage procurement budgets aiming to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
- Analyze market trends raw material price fluctuations and currency risks to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to supplier reliability geopolitical changes and market volatility.
- Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals to achieve departmental goals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement collaboration and high performance.
- Provide training and guidance on best practices in procurement and supply chain management.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Supply Chain Management Business Administration Chemistry or a related field. A Master s degree or MBA is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 810 years of procurement experience in the chemical industry with at least 35 years in a senior role managing imports and local sourcing.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of raw materials used in chemical manufacturing.
- Familiarity with international trade laws customs regulations and INCOTERMS.
- Skills:
- Proven negotiation and contract management expertise.
- Exceptional analytical and problemsolving abilities.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Working Conditions:
- Officebased role with occasional travel to supplier sites trade shows or manufacturing facilities.
- Requires the ability to work in a fastpaced and dynamic environment.
