Roles and responsibilities
1. Teaching and Instruction
- Lesson Planning and Preparation: Develop detailed lesson plans that are aligned with curriculum standards. This includes selecting appropriate teaching materials, creating engaging activities, and setting clear learning objectives for each lesson.
- Classroom Delivery: Deliver lessons in a clear, engaging, and effective manner. This may include lectures, interactive discussions, group work, practical activities, and multimedia presentations to cater to diverse learning styles.
- Subject Knowledge: Provide instruction in a specific subject area, whether it’s mathematics, science, language arts, social studies, or another subject. A teacher is expected to have a deep understanding of the content being taught.
- Differentiated Instruction: Adapt teaching strategies and materials to meet the varying needs of students, including those with special learning requirements, language barriers, or different levels of understanding.
- Active Learning: Encourage students to actively participate in the learning process by asking questions, engaging in discussions, solving problems, and applying their knowledge in real-world contexts.
2. Assessment and Feedback
- Formative Assessment: Use a variety of methods (quizzes, assignments, projects, class discussions) to gauge student understanding throughout the learning process. This helps identify areas where students may need additional support.
- Summative Assessment: Conduct formal assessments such as exams, tests, or final projects to evaluate overall student progress and understanding of the material covered.
- Providing Feedback: Offer constructive feedback to students on their work, highlighting areas of strength and suggesting areas for improvement. Encourage a growth mindset and help students understand how they can improve.
- Tracking Progress: Maintain accurate records of student performance and development, providing regular reports to students and parents (if applicable) regarding their progress.
3. Classroom Management
- Creating a Positive Learning Environment: Establish a classroom culture that is safe, respectful, and conducive to learning. Foster an environment where students feel encouraged to share ideas, ask questions, and express themselves freely.
- Behavior Management: Set clear behavioral expectations and manage classroom behavior to ensure that students remain engaged and on task. Use positive reinforcement and appropriate disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Routine and Structure: Maintain a well-organized classroom by establishing routines and clear expectations that help students focus and stay organized.
- Conflict Resolution: Mediate conflicts between students and help them develop social and emotional skills, such as empathy, communication, and cooperation.
4. Student Support and Guidance
- Individualized Attention: Provide additional support to students who may be struggling with the material. This may involve extra tutoring, modified assignments, or tailored learning plans.
- Emotional Support: Pay attention to students’ emotional well-being and provide support or guidance when needed. Encourage positive self-esteem, resilience, and mental health awareness.
Desired candidate profile
- A passion for providing outstanding teaching and driven to provide education at an exceptional level. Teachers enjoy an outstanding school environment in which to deliver a dynamic and creative curriculum to motivated students.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
- Teachers are expected to have a current license/certification in their home country with a minimum of 3 years full-time teaching experience.
- IB PYP experience is preferred.
- Aspiration to work in a world class school with real prospects for enhancing their career.
