Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Lead Innovation in Teaching: Spearhead innovative practices in teaching and learning across the school. This may include the integration of digital learning tools, flipped classrooms, personalized learning, or project-based learning.
  • Teacher Development: Provide professional development for staff to help them implement new teaching strategies, integrate technology, and use evidence-based practices to improve student outcomes.
  • Curriculum Innovation: Oversee and support the development of a curriculum that embraces new methodologies, fosters creativity, and ensures students are equipped for future challenges.
  • Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with senior leaders to align teaching innovations with the school’s strategic vision and goals. Ensure that new initiatives complement the overall educational objectives.
  • Evaluation and Impact Assessment: Lead the evaluation of teaching practices, curricula, and innovations to assess their impact on student achievement. Use data to inform improvements and refine strategies.
  • Promote the Use of Technology: Drive the use of technology in the classroom and across the school, ensuring that it is effectively integrated into teaching and learning. Provide training and resources to teachers on how to leverage technology.
  • Student-Centered Pedagogy: Ensure that the school’s teaching practices are student-centered, inclusive, and promote engagement, critical thinking, and independent learning.
  • Support for Inclusive Education: Promote inclusive teaching practices that ensure all students, regardless of background or ability, have access to high-quality education.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Regularly communicate with students, parents, and staff about innovations in teaching and learning, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Lead Professional Learning Communities: Facilitate collaboration among staff to share best practices, innovative ideas, and research findings that will enhance teaching quality.
  • Monitor and Review Progress: Regularly monitor and assess the progress of teaching initiatives, report on the outcomes, and refine strategies as needed.
  • Research-Oriented: A candidate with an interest in educational research or experience in research-based practices that can help inform and shape teaching innovation.
  • Networking and External Collaboration: Experience in building relationships with external educational bodies, networks, or industry partners to bring new opportunities and resources into the school.
  • Experience with Project Management: Ability to manage large-scale projects, such as school-wide initiatives or pilot programs, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Global Perspective on Education: Awareness of global trends in education, technology, and pedagogy that can be used to shape the school’s approach to teaching and learning.

Desired candidate profile

  • Leadership and Management Skills: Strong leadership abilities to inspire, manage, and support staff across the school. Able to foster collaboration, drive change, and manage the successful implementation of new initiatives.
  • Pedagogical Expertise: A deep understanding of best practices in teaching and learning, including differentiation, formative and summative assessments, and student-centered teaching strategies.
  • Technological Integration: Strong knowledge of educational technologies, such as learning management systems (LMS), digital resources, virtual learning environments (VLEs), and the use of technology to enhance learning and teaching.
  • Innovation in Education: Ability to identify, evaluate, and implement new educational trends, technologies, and methodologies to enhance the quality of teaching and student engagement.
  • Curriculum Design and Improvement: Expertise in adapting and developing curricula to incorporate innovative teaching strategies that align with contemporary educational standards and student needs.
  • Data Analysis and Evaluation: The ability to collect and analyze educational data to assess the impact of teaching practices, identify areas for improvement, and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Change Management: Experience in leading and managing change within an educational setting, with the ability to influence and guide staff through transitions and new initiatives.
  • Collaborative Working: Experience in working with a wide range of stakeholders, including teachers, senior leadership, students, parents, and external partners, to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
