Physicians may be a Medical Doctor or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) who graduated from an accredited medical school completed an accredited residency program and hold an active and unrestricted medical license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The physicians must be board certified in at least one of the following:
Emergency Medicine
Occupational Health Medicine and/or
Internal Medicine.
Other specialties may be considered in coordination with the Contracting Officer/Contracting Officer Representative (CO/COR) and the FEMA Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
Must have current certifications in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/ Basic Life Support (CPR/BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
All physicians at a minimum must be trained certified and capable of providing urgent care emergency medicine critical care minor surgical repair and inpatient holding for initial treatment of workplace emergencies and during operations.
Physical examinations include those required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to permit employees to perform work in environments that may contain chemical biological physical and ergonomic hazards.
Physical examinations include patient interaction consultation and analysis of clinical results
Provide patient assessment triage diagnosis and treatment of acute injuries and illnesses that occurred in the workplace.
Provide patient care during emergencies and disaster preparedness activities and exercises.
During emergency operations provide emergency care for sick and injured patients. Care may be provided in a classified secure environment with limited or no transport capability for up to 30days.
The Health Units are not intended to serve as or take the place of primary care providers for personnel working at the MWEOC.
The Health Unit will not provide nonemergent primary care services which would ordinarily be the financial responsibility of the employee.
