Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Tower Hamlets to assist with the appointment of a Youth Engagement Officer on a 3month contract likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 17.80 23.38 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • To implement the coordination and delivery of peer led Programmes events and youth activity such as but not limited to the Care council weekly care leavers club sessions young carers sessions youth inspections & commissioning young mayors offer/ elections group work leadership youth achievement awards local democracy week takeover day and young women specific programmes that provides a platform for children and young people to have a voice be empowered and supports in their personal social emotional health and educational development and progression.
  • To deliver a varied offer of youth participation activities events and programmes for children and young people through but not limited to accredited programmes one toone work group work volunteering the provision of partnership led sessions youth voice & influence active citizenship and leadership programmes participation
    and youth led opportunities including peer led training that enhances access to opportunities and leads to positive outcomes.
  • To work with the team manager colleagues and young people in in creating and delivering volunteering/ apprenticeships / service plan/ opportunities for the active engagement of volunteers overseeing and managing the day to day supervision of apprentices and volunteers assigning work priorities where appropriate supporting recruiting and coordinating the delivery of a volunteering across the service.
  • To use good practice initiatives ensuring that these are embedded in ways of Working building trusting relationships advocate on behalf of children and young people and support parents/ carers to provide an environment that promotes their involvement in the development and positive outcomes for children and young people.
  • To work with line manager colleagues / partners and lead on the development and delivery of care council young carers youth inspectors and young commissioners supporting other service projects ensuring vulnerable young people are trained in monitoring and evaluating services across the borough including commissioned youth
    centres detached teams and specialist providers to ensure adherence to the Services overall youth offer.

Qualifications:

  • A relevant professional qualification in a child youth or family related discipline e.g. teaching youth work early years probation; youth justice.
  • Experience of the design and delivery of group work for young people including personal development and capacity building activities in universal and detached settings
  • Experience of working effectively with other professionals in order to safeguard children young people and their families particularly those who present with risk issues and challenging behaviour such as substance misuse antisocial behaviour mental health and
    criminality.
  • Experience of the design and delivery of sessions e.g. user forums & meetings including group work for young people including personal development and capacity building activities in specific settings including universal and detached settings
  • Ability to strongly advocate and influence on issues related to children and young people who are or have been in care.
  • Experience of accreditation of projects and a thorough knowledge
    to the relevant bodies
  • Experience of coproduction and working with young people and
    staff to develop projects.
  • Ability to strongly advocate and influence on issues related to children and young people
