Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Lead and manage the lunch and dinner operations of the South African Restaurant, ensuring the highest standards of service, quality, and presentation.
Collaborating with the Food & Beverage Manager to develop innovative strategies aimed at maximizing revenue and profitability.
Lead recruitment efforts to attract top talent, utilizing innovative methods to ensure the team comprises skilled professionals dedicated to excellence.
Champion guest satisfaction initiatives, delivering exceptional service through effective training and development of the team.
Encourage creativity and innovation within the department, experimenting with new concepts and approaches to enhance the dining experience.
Demonstrate passion for food and beverage, actively engaging with the team and sharing knowledge to inspire excellence.
Operations Management
Oversee Daily Operations: Ensure the outlet runs smoothly, managing tasks like inventory control, staffing, and scheduling.
Maintain Quality Standards: Ensure that the quality of service, products, or offerings meet company standards. This could include food quality in a restaurant or product availability in a retail store.
Compliance with Health & Safety: Ensure that the outlet complies with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. In a restaurant, for example, this might include maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards.
2. Team Leadership and Management
Staff Management: Hire, train, and manage employees, ensuring they are well-equipped to perform their roles and provide excellent customer service.
Motivation and Performance: Motivate staff to meet goals, provide regular performance feedback, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Scheduling and Staffing: Create work schedules that align with business needs, ensuring that shifts are covered appropriately, especially during peak hours.
Conflict Resolution: Address staff conflicts or issues that arise in a professional and timely manner, maintaining a positive work environment.

  • Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate, manage, and lead a team to achieve performance goals.
  • Customer Service: Strong focus on customer satisfaction, addressing issues effectively and maintaining relationships.
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding of budgeting, cost control, and revenue management.
