Position: WordPress Pagespeed Optimization Specialist
Working Hours: 9:00 AM 5:30 PM Eastern Time ideally Saturday Wednesday but flexible.

About the job:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Core Web Vitals Optimization Specialist to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for optimizing our clients’ WordPress websites to meet and exceed Google's Core Web Vitals performance standards. Your expertise will ensure fast responsive websites with excellent user experiences that pass Google’s Core Web Vitals tests and maintain a high Google PageSpeed score.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Core Web Vitals Optimization:
- Ensure that all client websites meet Google’s Core Web Vitals focusing on fixing Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) First Contentful Paint (FCP) Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) and First Input Delay (FID).
- Speed Optimization:
- Implement various optimization techniques to enhance overall site performance including CSS JavaScript and HTML minification image compression and lazy loading.
- Integrate CDN solutions (e.g. Cloudflare) to improve content delivery speed and reduce latency.
- Implement caching and browser caching strategies to improve load times and reduce server load.
- Optimize DNS settings and ensure GZIP compression is enabled.
- Technical Troubleshooting & Problem Solving:
- Address renderblocking JavaScript and optimize scripts to ensure faster rendering.
- Clean up databases and optimize WordPress performance to ensure sites load quickly and efficiently.
- Resolve issues highlighted in Google Search Console related to Core Web Vitals.
- Mobile Optimization:
- Address mobile usability issues ensuring a smooth experience across devices and improving mobile load times.
- Reporting & Analysis:
- Regularly analyze site performance using tools like Google PageSpeed Insights Lighthouse and Web Vitals reports.
- Provide clear actionable insights and recommendations to improve performance for each site.
- Collaboration & Documentation:
- Work closely with developers designers and other team members to ensure consistent performance improvements.
- Document optimization strategies and create best practices for future projects.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Proven experience optimizing WordPress websites with a strong focus on performance and Core Web Vitals.
- Experience with WP Engine Oxygen Builder and other WordPress page builders.
- Strong understanding of DNS changes CDN integration (especially Cloudflare) and GZIP compression.
- Proficient in minifying CSS JavaScript and HTML and optimizing media including resizing and compressing images.
- Familiarity with lazy loading techniques and minimizing external scripts.
- Experience resolving renderblocking JavaScript issues and improving First Contentful Paint (FCP) Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) First Input Delay (FID) and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS).
- Strong understanding of database optimization and caching strategies for WordPress.
- Tools & Platforms:
- Familiarity with Google PageSpeed Insights Lighthouse Web Vitals and Google Search Console.
- Experience using WP Engine Cloudflare and similar tools for optimization.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in HTML CSS and JavaScript.
- Experience with image optimization tools (e.g. Imagify Smush).
- Knowledge of website performance testing and optimization strategies.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problemsolving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work with crossfunctional teams.
