Job Description
Founded in 1985 the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) is committed to helping athletes optimize their health and performance through research and education in hydration and nutrition science. GSSI has a satellite clinical research laboratory on the campus of IMG Academies in Bradenton FL. As a part of GSSI the incumbent of this Scientist role will be responsible for representing GSSI and the PepsiCo R&D teams with high standards and in accordance with ethical guidelines for human research and conduct. Additionally the specific job responsibilities of the incumbent are as follows:
Execute the laboratorybased clinical research studies at GSSI s satellite lab in Bradenton FL.
Primarily responsible for leading the daytoday execution of research projects including subject recruitment medical screenings (blood pressure fasting blood glucose) to determine subject eligibility and data collection for study sessions.
Ensure research program safety standards and execution of related SOPs.
Qualifications/Requirements
Ph.D. required in Exercise Physiology/Kinesiology/Nutrition or related discipline.
Demonstrable knowledge of and following of good clinical practice (GCP) guidelines.
Demonstrable knowledge of human physiology.
Four or more years of experience in clinical research (can include experience gained during PhD program).
Must have a proactive work style able to multitask and be flexible to work in a highperformance and everchanging environment.
Selfstarter with good interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with various personalities and work styles.
Flexibility and willingness to work during nontraditional hours (e.g. start time before 8:00am or finish time after 5:00pm) as needed depending upon research schedule.
