Founded in 1985 the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) is committed to helping athletes optimize their health and performance through research and education in hydration and nutrition science. GSSI has a satellite clinical research laboratory on the campus of IMG Academies in Bradenton FL. As a part of GSSI the incumbent of this Scientist role will be responsible for representing GSSI and the PepsiCo R&D teams with high standards and in accordance with ethical guidelines for human research and conduct. Additionally the specific job responsibilities of the incumbent are as follows:
Execute the laboratorybased clinical research studies at GSSI s satellite lab in Bradenton FL.
Biochemistry Technician for the clinical research program responsible for biological fluid sample handling analysis and laboratory/equipment maintenance
Assisting colleagues in the daytoday execution of research projects including data collection data entry and writing of internal reports.
Qualifications/Requirements
M.S. required in Biological Sciences/Biochemistry or related discipline.
Two or more years of experience in a laboratory technician role (can include experience gained during M.S. thesis work)
Demonstrable experience with biofluid sample handling and analytical techniques.
Excellent organizational wet lab (pipetting) and laboratory skills (ion chromatography and ELISA assays).
Must have a proactive work style able to multitask and be flexible to work in a highperformance and everchanging environment.
Selfstarter with good interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with various personalities and work styles.
Flexibility and willingness to work during nontraditional hours (e.g. start time before 8:00am or finish time after 5:00pm) as needed depending upon research schedule.
