Job Description
Job role: Security Engineer
Duration: 1 year contract
Location: In office 4 days a week Wilmington DE or Irving TX or Manassas VA
The first position is more of a general Security Engineer. The Engineering Job Description most closely aligns with this role. They would like someone that has experience with Palo Alto firewalls networking Cloudflare Menlo and Firemon. The person currently in this role is their main point person for tickets that come to the Engineering team.
Responsibilities:
The Information Security Engineer is responsible for implementing and managing a comprehensive security program to protect our organizations data and systems from cyber threats. They will work closely with other members of the IT team to ensure the security of our infrastructure applications and data.
- Identify and define system security requirements.
- Design computer security architecture and develop detailed cybersecurity designs.
- Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols.
- Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure tools & devices.
- Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.
- Collaborate with other members of the IT team to ensure that security controls are implemented throughout our infrastructure applications and data.
- Stay up to date with the latest cybersecurity threats and trends and make recommendations to improve our security posture accordingly.
- Provide guidance and support to other members of the IT team on security best practices.
Qualifications:
- Proven work experience as a system security engineer or information security engineer.
- Detailed technical knowledge of network cloud and computer system security including a strong understanding of security mechanisms such as user access controls rolebased access control SSO file permissions firewall policies and audit logs.
- Handson experience in security systems including firewalls intrusion detection systems endpoint protection systems web application firewalls vulnerability scanning software privilege access management data loss protection log management content filtering etc.
- Experience with network security and networking technologies and with system security and network monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with web related technologies (Web applications Web Services Service Oriented Architectures) and of network/web related protocols.
- Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Experience with incident response and handling security incidents.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- BS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
- Certifications such as CISSP CISM Azure Security Engineer or similar are a plus.
