- The Tennessee Department of Healths Division of Family Health and Wellness (FHW) is hiring a Masters Level Social Worker with expertise in maternal mental health and substance use disorders for the Injury Prevention and Detection section.
- This position is to work with the Tennessee Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Screening and Treatment program.
- This program aims to expand healthcare providers capacity to screen assess treat and refer pregnant and postpartum people for maternal mental health and substance use disorders through three main goals:
- Increase routine behavioral health screening for pregnant and postpartum persons
Increase routine detection assessment brief intervention treatment and referral of
maternal mental health conditions through the use of evidencebased practices
Increase access to treatment and recovery support services for pregnant and postpartum
persons. - The qualified candidate will play a pivotal role in providing training about key maternal mental health and substance use disorder topics to TDH staff who provide services to pregnancy and postpartum women throughout Tennessee at the regional and local level.
- This position will report directly to the FHW Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Program Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and provide recurring virtual and inperson training opportunities to TDH Care
Coordination staff including the FHW call center staff CHANT care coordinators and womens health navigators on maternal mental health and substance use disorders with emphasis on screening and referral to support services. - Provide centralized support and technical assistance to TDH Care Coordination staff.
Assist in troubleshooting and navigation of communitybased resources. - Coordinate with FindHelpNowTN on necessary updates to the provider database.
- Promote MMHSUD resources available through TDH and community partners at local regional and statewide meetings.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must hold a masters degree in social work from an accredited program at a college or
university. - Must have at least 2 years experience in perinatal and or postpartum mental health
particularly in the area of assessment. - Licensed master social worker (LMSW) or licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) preferred.
- Previous experience providing fulltime maternal mental health and/or maternal substance
use treatment in a clinical and/or case management setting. - Understanding of maternal mental health and substance use disorder as it relates to
maternal mortality and morbidity relevant laws prevention strategies and best practices
preferred. - Experience in providing training across workforce sectors preferred.
Experience in maternal mental health treatment setting and/or maternal and child healthcare preferred. - Excellent organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and projects.
- Demonstrated leadership and/or supervisory experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage
with diverse stakeholders and convey complex information clearly and persuasively. - Ability to work remotely and independently with up to 40% statewide travel.
- Travel up to 20% of the time to conduct inperson trainings/attend meetings across the
state and within the US for conferences a few times per year.
