Job Summary:
The Commis Chef supports the kitchen team in preparing and cooking food in line with the quality and standards set by the Head Chef. This role is ideal for individuals looking to develop their culinary skills and knowledge. The Commis Chef will work under supervision to ensure kitchen cleanliness preparation of food items and assistance in all kitchen tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of ingredients and dishes following recipes and standards set by the senior chefs.
- Cooking: Assist with cooking tasks under supervision such as grilling frying boiling and baking.
- Stock Management: Help with the organization and stock rotation of food ingredients ensuring proper storage and handling.
- Kitchen Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen including utensils cooking areas and workstations.
- Food Presentation: Ensure food is presented in an appealing way as per the standards of the establishment.
- Assisting with Menu Changes: Work closely with senior chefs to learn and support in the creation of new menu items.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health safety and sanitation standards in food preparation cooking and handling.
- Supporting Senior Chefs: Assist with any tasks requested by the Sous Chef or Head Chef contributing to a smoothrunning kitchen.
