Job Description: Summer Distressed Debt Analyst
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detailoriented Summer Distressed Debt Analyst to join our investment team for a 10 12 week internship program. This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain handson experience in distressed debt investing focusing on credit analysis restructuring strategies and portfolio management. As a Summer Analyst you will work alongside seasoned professionals on live transactions and strategic projects gaining valuable insights into distressed and special situations investing.
Key Responsibilities: Investment Research and Analysis:
- Conduct indepth analysis of distressed debt opportunities including financial statement reviews and credit risk assessments.
- Build and refine financial models to evaluate capital structures recovery scenarios and cash flow forecasts.
- Analyze market trends industry dynamics and borrower operations to identify investment risks and opportunities.
- Prepare initial investment memos and presentations for internal discussions.
Due Diligence and Transaction Support:
- Participate in due diligence efforts including analyzing financial operational and legal data.
- Support the structuring of transaction terms covenants and agreements.
- Collaborate with external advisors and internal teams to ensure robust evaluation and execution of investment opportunities.
- Assist in organizing and managing data rooms and transaction documentation.
Portfolio Management:
- Monitor the financial and operational performance of existing portfolio investments.
- Assist in preparing periodic updates and performance reports for internal stakeholders and investors.
- Contribute to valuecreation strategies for portfolio companies including operational turnarounds and refinancing plans.
Learning and Collaboration:
- Work closely with senior team members on investment decisions transaction execution and portfolio reviews.
- Participate in team discussions on distressed debt strategies and market opportunities.
- Gain exposure to the full lifecycle of distressed investing from sourcing to restructuring and exit strategies.
Qualifications: Educational Background:
- Currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Finance Economics Accounting Business Administration or a related field.
- Strong academic performance with a demonstrated interest in distressed debt private credit or special situations.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in financial modeling and Excel.
- Basic understanding of credit analysis distressed investing and restructuring principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly and concisely.
- Detailoriented highly organized and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fastpaced environment.
