Mandala Trading Pty Ltd is an Agricultural Trading business based out of Sydney Australia with liaison offices in Canada and Singapore and back offices in India and Nepal. It trades agricultural produce globally into many countries like China Vietnam Thailand Malaysia Indonesia Philippines UAE and Indian SubContinent. Mandala Trading is expanding exponentially into new destinations and looking to expand its Grains/oilseed trading team in Western Australia to cater to its growing needs.
Job Summary: We require a Finance Controller to be fully responsible for the accounting and finance for the back office in India as well as provide support to the Australian operations. You will head the team in India and work closely with the finance teams in Australia and Nepal.
About the Role
As the Finance Controller you will support our Chief Financial Officer Finance Director and the broader business by leading critical financial operations ensuring accuracy and driving efficiency. Your responsibilities will include:
Cash Flow Management: Oversee and optimise cash flow management daily.
MonthEnd Management: Oversee and manage monthend tasks ensuring all key deadlines are met with precision.
Financial Analysis & Reporting: Provide insightful analysis and commentary on
monthly financial results against budgets and forecasts contributing to strategic
decisionmaking.
KPI & Metric Reporting: Report key financial metrics and KPIs ensuring
transparency and accountability.
Accounting Operations: Manage all accounting operations including Billing
Accounts Receivable/Payable General Ledger and Revenue Recognition.
Balance Sheet Management: Maintain the program balance sheet complete
monthly reconciliations and ensure accuracy across financial statements.
Inventory Management: Be responsible for financial aspects of inventory
management ensuring accurate valuation and cost control
Compliance & Reporting: Manage local state and federal reporting requirements in Australia including GST/BAS/VAT and payroll tax.
Payroll Management: Assist in payroll processing ensuring compliance with PAYG Super and Workers Compensation payments.
Audit & Relationship Management: Maintain a strong relationship with our auditing firm and assist in managing audit processes.
Insurance: Assessing risk exposure ensuring adequate coverage managing policy renewals claims processing and optimising premiums while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
CRM Development: Support the implementation of new modules in our CRM
software to align accounting with operations.
Subsidiary Accounts: Oversee and manage the books of accounts of two overseas subsidiaries involved in backend operations. Will be responsible to oversee management and accounting of any new subsidiaries in the future.
About You To excel in this role you should bring:
Experience working with a CRM software: Prior experience is desirable.
Accounting Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Xero is a bonus.
Strong Financial Acumen: A solid foundational understanding of U.S. GAAP with the ability to prepare Balance Sheets Income Statements and Cash Flow
Statements.
Experience working with Holding Companies: Prior experience with consolidation of books is desirable
Process Improvement Mindset: A passion for identifying and implementing new finance processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage with people across various business units.
Technical Proficiency: Strong Microsoft Office skills particularly in Word
PowerPoint and Excel.
