Under limited supervision performs a variety of accounting support functions disperses payment reconciles accounts and prepares reports of accounting transactions; and performs related duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Which are not in any hierarchical order)
1. Prepares processes and verifies bank deposits journal entries and accounting reports.
2. Verifies and reconciles accounts such as petty cash cash clearing and utility billings.
3. Verifies and reconciles accounts receivable transactions such as utility payments licensing and permit fees and fines.
4. Prepares verifies and reconciles accounts payable transactions such as purchase requisitions invoices and payroll.
5. Enters financial data into appropriate accounting and computer systems.
6. Maintains records and files associated with various business transactions.
7. May supervise staff or serve in a lead capacity.
8. Performs duties as the Citys Procurement Card Administrator.
9. Responds to all lien queries received online and telephone calls.
10. Prepares and files lien satisfaction and releases.
11. May perform backup duties for other positions within the work group.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associates degree from an accredited college or university or an accredited technical school with a major in Accounting Finance or Business (education will be verified using the Education Requirements listed below) and two (2) years of bookkeeping accounting finance experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
A current and valid Florida drivers license or State of Florida Identification Card is required. For application purposes a valid drivers license or Identification Card from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application; with the ability to obtain the State of Florida drivers license within 30 days from date of employment.
Never convicted of a felony; or misdemeanor involving perjury false statement moral turpitude or domestic violence.
Education Requirements:
To be considered valid (or verified) for position qualification purposes and consistent with City Hiring Policy 45 a High School GED or equivalent diploma and all higher education degrees or certifications must have been issued by:
a) a public education institution in the State of Florida or any State or Territory of the United States; or
b) an institution accredited by an accrediting organization that is recognized by the Florida Department of Education or the U.S. Department of Education; or
c) an institution that is accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA); or
d) an institution whose degree or certification is accepted by institutions identified in either a b or c above for the purpose of admission to institutions identified in either a b or c above.
International degrees will be evaluated to determine if they satisfy qualification requirements.

State of Emergency: When normal operations of City department are suspended or interrupted due to a declaration by the Mayor that a state of emergency exists all employees will be deemed critical by the City. For the preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail employees deemed necessary shall be required to work. Employees deemed critical by the City but not needed for the initial preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail may be directed not to report to work and given paid administrative leave or they may be reassigned to another location that best meet the needs of the City.
