Job Description
Duties: Reviews patient prescriptions to ascertain type of treatment required location of sffected areas history of previous radiation treatment etc. Safely positions patients utilizing immobilization devices.Utilizes appropriate treatment accessories as prescribed by the physician.Operates treatment machine (linear accelerator HDR) precisely.Administers ionizing radiation as prescribed per physician.Verifies radiation prescription prior to treatment and confirms total radiation dose following treatment in patient charts.Documents treatment in inpatient charts.Localizes patient markings daily.Completes ongoing imaging of patients per departmental policy.Assists patients in coordinating appointment time for daily treatmentsaccommodating patient transportation and other appointments. Refers patients to social worker for counseling transportation and medical equipment needs etc. as appropriate.Refers patients to nurse or physician for conditions requiring evaluation as appropriate.Assumes the duties of simulation. Rotates through treatment areas as assigned.Responsible for cleaning therapy rooms and work area; maintains linen and medical supplies for treatment rooms.Adheres to the quality assurance policies of the department (chart checks timeouts machine warmup etc.).Teaches radiation therapy students as defined by their educational requirements.Performs all other duties as assigned or requested.

Lifting of patients moving & pushing wheel chairs / stretchers and lifting of equipment above head up to 50lbs. Potential exposure to radiation; however adherence to safety procedures minimizes likelihood of danger. Frequent interaction with emotionally depressed and terminally/critically ill patients.

Schedule Notes: Schedule: 5x8s 7:30a4p no on call requirements Contract length: open ended; details below Will only be working on treatment units MUST HAVE ARRT certification PREFERRED experience with Varian equipment/ARIA software PREFERRED 1 year of experience This position is being opened as gap coverage while the internal team works to fill 5 vacancies. The length of this contract will cover the duration of this hiring timeline likely 2 months. The manager also advised if the candidate is interested in one of the vacancies and they do well on assignment they are able to fill one of the vacancies.
