Job Description
Job Title: Field Service Technician
Location: Rochester NY Onsite
Duration: 12 Months
Job Description:
- Under general direction responsible for maintaining and installing electronic equipment used for telecommunications including Fiber optic transmissions equipment lightwave multiplexing equipment digital multiplexers channel banks circuit termination equipment DC power equipment.
- Must be able to install equipment in support of network and customer requirements maintains site security and cleanliness.
- Oversees contractors to help maintain repair and restore various portions of the network e.g. Generators HVAC DC power plant and fiber optic cable and duct.
- Must have a working knowledge of personal computers and common software. Must have solid Sonet and Ethernet systems knowledge.
- Troubleshoot equipment and network problems remove and replace defective modules track spares and ensure repair perform preventative maintenance checks of electronic equipment maintain battery plant as built drawings and documentation. Knowledge and history of OTDR testing and splicing of fiber optic cables is a plus.
- Typically requires 25 years of field experience
- Technician will be responsible for assistance across multiple sites in central New York state Syracuse/Rochester area.
- Duties will include Troubleshooting and repair equipment installation and vegetation management. Technician will ensure the Loto process is followed and procedures are adhered to.
- This position will be completing project punchlist items.
- Scope will change day to day. Technician will be working on a team to install grounding strapping conduits. Installing panel clips etc. technician must be able to perform HCH and work under a LOTO.
