Job Description
Job Title: Data Scientist (Hybrid)
- Location: Lexington MA (Onsit 23days/week)
- Job Type: W2 Contract
Background/Need:
The Group focuses on objective technologybased humancentered solutions to measure model and modify cognitive and physiological function for enhancement sustainment or recovery. Our goal is to deliver missionfocused technologies to ensure the human component is successful. This is accomplished through four broad technical areas: health and resilience monitoring trauma care enhanced communications and humanmachine teaming. Research in all areas includes capability gap analysis advanced sensing machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms biologicallybased modeling prototyping system integration and field testing of systems to monitor the human state predict outcomes and intervene to improve health and performance. Typical goals include increasing physical cognitive and psychological performance and resilience of end users in their operational environments; measuring modeling and modifying the brain to mitigate neurotrauma and neurodegeneration of end users after exposure; and developing humanmachine interfaces for enhanced end user performance and communication within groups. Our highly interdisciplinary group draws on skills from biology physiology cognitive science neuroscience psychology biosignal processing biomedical engineering machine learning and artificial intelligence speech and hearing science computer science physics and medical research areas. This skill base combined with close partnering with clinicians academic researchers and industry allow us to meet a wide range of sponsor humancentered needs. Primary government sponsors are in the Departments of Defense IARPA the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.
Responsibilities:
The candidate will work in support of technical staff from multiple groups to support a range of activities including developing simulation environments assets and interfaces used in the development of AI computer vision machine learning and autonomy projects. The candidate must be experienced in human factors user interface design and implementation user experience considerations graphic design web and mobile platforms user and case studies and collaboration with development teams. The candidate must also have experience with data science techniques and approaches such as natural language programming. Experience creating demonstrable prototypes is highly desirable. The candidate must also have experience with multiple aspects of data architecture and human factors design and development. Experience working with small user communities (i.e. where feedback is detailed but limited) is highly desired.
Must Have:
Experience conducting user interviews to gather requirements
Experience drafting user stories to develop system capabilities
Experience interfacing with software development teams in an agile environment
Experience prototyping and/or storyboarding UI/UX features
Experience in Python programing
Experience applying methods and algorithms to extract insight from structure and unstructured data
Experience with AI and ML techniques such as Natural Language Programming (NLP)
Experience working with DevOps
Nice to Have:
Experience contributing to product codebases either frontend or otherwise
Strong familiarity with common data webfriendly data formats e.g. JSON and XML
Familiarity with the limitations and challenges associated with user communities leveraging various browsers and platforms (e.g. Chrome vs. Firefox iOS vs. Android)
Experience leading design reviews of proposed features either with or without the customer
Ability to rapidly learn and apply emerging data science algorithms and implementations
Experience with tools implementing data privacy standards
Work well within a fast moving small team environment
Education & Experience: Bachelors with 5 Years of relevant work experience.
Work Authorization: US Citizenship with Active Secret Clearance is required due to the nature of the work.
