- Assisting the Chief Engineer: Support the Chief Engineer in managing the engineering departments daily activities staff and maintenance schedule.
- Supervision and Training: Oversee a team of engineers and technicians providing direction support and training to ensure highquality performance.
- Preventive Maintenance: Ensure the execution of regular preventive maintenance programs for the hotels mechanical electrical plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Emergency Repairs: Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies ensuring issues are resolved quickly and efficiently to minimize guest inconvenience.
- Budget and Cost Control: Assist in preparing and managing the departments budget ensuring that all tasks are completed within financial constraints.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all engineering work complies with safety standards local regulations and hotel policies. Maintain a clean safe and hazardfree work environment.
- Energy Management: Monitor and optimize energy consumption across the hotels operations implementing energysaving initiatives.
- Guest Services: Ensure that guest requests related to engineering (such as room repairs or adjustments) are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of tools equipment and supplies ensuring that all are in good working order and available when needed.
- Communication and Coordination: Liaise with other departments to ensure smooth operations and address any crossdepartmental maintenance issues.
- Reports and Documentation: Prepare and maintain maintenance records work orders and reports for operational performance reviews.
Qualifications :
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Engineering Facilities Management or a related technical field.
- Preferred: A degree in mechanical electrical civil or industrial engineering.
- Alternative: Relevant technical certifications such as an engineering diploma or HVAC certification can be considered.
Professional Experience:
Minimum 35 years of experience in engineering or maintenance within the hospitality industry or a similar field.
- Prior experience in a hotel or large commercial property is highly valued.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a technical or engineering role including managing a team.
Experience with building systems:
- Indepth knowledge of hotelspecific systems including HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) electrical plumbing fire safety elevators and general maintenance.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of Hotel Engineering Systems:
- Familiarity with mechanical electrical and plumbing systems (MEP).
- Ability to troubleshoot repair and perform maintenance on these systems.
- Preventive Maintenance Programs:
- Experience in developing and managing preventive maintenance schedules for hotel infrastructure.
- Energy Management:
- Ability to monitor and optimize energy consumption.
- Knowledge of energysaving practices and systems for hotels.
Certifications (Preferred but not always required):
- HVAC Certification or other relevant mechanical/electrical certifications.
- Building Systems Certifications (e.g. ASHRAE LEED or similar).
- Safety Certifications such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) or other workplace safety training.
