Job Role:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for translating technical documents software interfaces and communication materials from Japanese to English and vice versa. As a key member of our global team the Japanese Translator will help bridge language barriers and ensure seamless communication between our Japanesespeaking clients stakeholders and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document Translation: Translate technical documentation user manuals software interfaces and productrelated materials from Japanese to English and English to Japanese while maintaining accuracy and clarity.
- Communication Support: Assist with translating emails meeting minutes presentations and internal communications between Japanese and Englishspeaking teams.
- Localization: Work with software development teams to ensure proper localization of IT products and services for Japanesespeaking customers.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Ensure that translations consider cultural nuances ensuring accuracy in both language and context for Japanese users.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers developers and business analysts to understand technical requirements and deliver accurate translations in a timely manner.
- Quality Assurance: Review and proofread translated materials to ensure high standards of quality consistency and terminology usage.
- Terminology Management: Develop and maintain a glossary of industryspecific terms abbreviations and phrases to ensure consistency across all translated materials.
- Customer Support: Provide translation support for customer inquiries product feedback and support requests in both Japanese and English ensuring highquality service for Japanesespeaking clients.
Required Qualifications:
- Fluency in Japanese and English: Nativelevel proficiency in Japanese (both spoken and written) and professional proficiency in English.
- Degree or Certification: A bachelors degree in translation linguistics or a related field; or equivalent experience. Certification in translation is a plus.
- Experience: At least 4 years of experience in translation preferably in an IT or technical environment.
- Technical Understanding: Familiarity with IT terminology and concepts including software development systems and hardware.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with the ability to translate complex technical materials accurately.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Translation Tools: Familiarity with CAT tools (ComputerAssisted Translation) like SDL Trados MemoQ etc. is a plus.
- Knowledge of Localization: Experience with localization processes particularly in the IT or software industry.
- Crosscultural Communication: Ability to understand and respect cultural differences ensuring proper tone and messaging for Japanesespeaking audiences.
