Job Description
IBM WebSphere Application Server (IBM WAS) administrator position requires selfmotivation and technical proficiency in the installation configuration and administration of IBM WebSphere Application Server including effective troubleshooting abilities. This position is focused on providing end to end support to the designated application technology stack to ensure maximum uptime for Production Systems. Overall responsible for availability performance tuning and scalability of the infrastructure.
We are looking for a IBM certified WAS Administrator with 812 years experience supporting Middleware technologies on Unix and Windows operating systems. The candidate must demonstrate solid experience with system administration change management user management and software logistics to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the supported environment. The candidate should be able to provide SME level of support to 1st level Administrators within the team.
The job includes working with the various technology teams developers vendors and management of new landscape setup. The Engineer will be responsible for the administration installation configuration of Middleware products on standalone and clustered environment for multiple clients.
Technical Expertise required:
Meets degree/educational requirements or has equivalent work experience for job code
8 12 years of relevant experience in WAS websphere portal or WCM
knowledge of HCL Commerce architecture administration and configuration
Proficiency in scripting languages for automation tasks.
Able to deal with complex issues involving customers and vendors
Strong skills in the administration of Java hosting platforms including but not limited to IBM WebSphere Application Server.
Well experienced in common Linux distributions (RHEL Solaris Centos etc.)
Perform Installation upgradation migration of Middleware products
Support standard software maintenance and application deployments to prod and nonprod environments by following project management office guidelines
Demonstrate ability to automate and maintain automation for core job functions
Advanced skills in platform administration tasks including installation patching clustering logshipping and tuning
Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in team projects
Perform related duties as required and provide offhours support for Middleware related issues
Identify Root Cause and be able to apply preventive actions for environment specific Problems
Available for offhour deployments and provide 24x7 oncall production support for mission and business critical applications
Experience and Key Responsibilities:
Installation configuration and management of IBM WebSphere Application Servers Liberty profiles IBM HTTP Servers Apache/IIS on Windows and Linux Operating Systems
Automation of MW environment provisioning & application deployments
Troubleshooting BAU issues with respect to applications.
Major and minor fix pack upgrades of different middleware flavors
SSL implementation and certificate renewal activity
Identification & mitigation of risks if there is any
Excellent understanding of ITIL process (Incident Change and Problem management processes)
Additional Requirements:
Should be flexible to work in 24X7 shift operations
Capable of handling escalation independently
IBM certified administrator
Industry certification in at least one of the cloud technology
