Position Title:Interim Athletic Director

Location: Louisville KY

Department:Athletics

FLSA Designation:Exempt Fulltime

Reports To:Head of School

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The athletic director shall provide overall leadership and direction for the total school systems athletic program and serve as a resource person for the athletic program to coaches school families school friends other schools athletic personnel and the public in general. The athletic director shall be a bornagain Christian gifted in athletic administration who feels called of God to assist the administration in providing a quality athletic program to students attending PCS and committed to building a program of attraction for PCS athletics.


PORTLAND CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS STATEMENT OF FAITH:

1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible authoritative inerrant Word of God (II Timothy3:15; II Peter 1:21)

2. We believe there is one God eternally existent in three persons Father Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1;Matthew 28:19; John 10:30).

3. We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33); His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:35); His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15; Hebrews 7:26); His miracles (John 2:11); His vicarious and atoning death (I Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9); His resurrection (John 11:25; I Corinthians 15:4); His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19); His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11;Revelation 19:11).

4. We believe that all people sin and can be saved only by Gods grace through faith in Christ crucified and raised from the dead (Romans 3:23 Ephesians 2:89 I Corinthians 15:15) that such are justified freely through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus (Romans 3:24 Ephesians 1:7) that unless one is born again of water and the Spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of God (John 3:37) that repentance is an essential part of true faith (Mark 1:15 Luke 13:35 Acts 20:21) that the outward way of demonstrating ones inward faith and repentance and the union with Christ that results is through immersion in water (Matthew 28:1920 Acts 2:38 Romans 6:14).

5. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost they that are saved unto the resurrection of lifeand they that are lost unto the resurrection of (John 5:2829).

6. We believe God created the sacrament of marriage to be the union of one man and one woman and is a reflection of Christs relationship to his church (Ephesians 5:2527).

7. We believe that God wonderfully created each person as distinctly male or female. These two distinct complimentary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:27).

8. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 12:1213;Galatians 3:2628).

9. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life (Romans 8:1314; I Corinthians 3:16; I Corinthians 6:1920; Ephesians 4:30; Ephesians 5:18).

10. We believe that Christians top priorities are the Great Commandment and the Great Commission: that we should seek for ourselves and our students that we love the Lord with all our being and love our neighbor asourselves and seek to make disciples of the Lord Jesus in all the world (Matthew22:3640; Matthew 28:1820).

    Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct

    This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth morality and the proper conduct of mankind is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Portland Christian Schools faith doctrine practice policy and discipline our Board of Directors is the final interpretive authority on the Bibles application.


    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Agreement and consent to Schools Statement of Faith

    SPIRITUAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior and Lord.

    2. Believe the Bible is Gods Word and standard for faith and daily living.

    3. Be in wholehearted agreement with the PCS Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education.

    4. Be a Christian rolemodel in attitude speech and actions towards others. This includes being committed to Gods Biblical standards for sexual conduct (Luke 6:40).

    5. Be a member in good standing at a local evangelical church whose doctrine agrees with the schools Statement of Faith.

    6. Have the spiritual maturity and personal leadership qualities to assure that athletic personnel and teams are Christian witnesses to their competitors.

    PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their childrens education.

    2. Be a role model in the character qualities of courtesy flexibility integrity kindness selfcontrol perseverance and punctuality.

    3. Meet everyday stress with emotional stability objectivity and optimism.

    4. Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness modesty good taste and agreement with school policy.

    5. Use acceptable English in written and oral communication. Speak with clear wholesome articulation.

    7. Respectfully submit and be loyal to the PCS Board of Directors.

    6. Shall notify the Head of School of any policy he/she is unable to support.

    8. Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately.

    7. Place his/her administrative ministry ahead of other jobs or volunteer activities.


      ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND FUNCTIONS:

      1. Reflect the purpose of the school that is to honor Christ in every activity.

      2. Cooperate with the administration in implementing all policies procedures and directives governing the operation of the school.

      3. Treat others with friendliness dignity and consideration.

      4. Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with conflict.

      5. Seek the counsel of the administration other athletic personnel colleagues and parents while maintaining a teachable attitude.

      6. Recognize the need for good public relations. Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner.

      7. Always adhere to the rules and regulations of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association and the PCS athletic handbook.

      8. Assist the Head of School in the formulating of recommendations for the athletic handbook to be approved by the Board.

      9. Assist the Head of School in the selection of coaching candidates to be recommended to the Board for approval.

      10. Lead attend and participate in required inservice state and regional athletic meetings.

      11. Submit an annual budget to the Head of School and the director of finance for approval within established timelines.

      12. Obtain approval from the director of finance for athletic program purchases.

      13. Check all bills and purchase orders for accuracy before submitting them to the finance office for payment.

      14. Keep the Head of School and the director of finance advised of the status of the athletic program with copies of all state reports and reports to other agencies.

      15. Manage schedules transportation all game official issues athletic facilities readiness uniform issues and event workers.

      16. Promote the schools mission and vision to the school families school friends/donors and the public.

      17. Know the procedures for dealing with all system wide emergencies.

      18. Coordinate publications to the school community.

      19. Recommend and mentor personnel he/she supervises.

      20. Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately.

      21. Inform the executive director in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any duty assigned.

      22. Provide supervision for events as requested by the Head of School.

      23. Provide assistance as needed in the absence of other athletic personnel.

      24. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Head of School.


            MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

            Bachelors degree in sports management education or related field

            Two (2) years of experience in athletics role

            Certification from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA)
