The Department of Radiation Oncology invites applications for its Central Nervous System and Stereotactic Radiosurgery Fellowship. This nonACGME accredited advanced radiation oncology training fellowship program is a 1year combined clinical and translational research program.
This exciting opportunity includes intensive clinical and research training focusing on the management and study of primary and secondary CNS malignancies. Trainees will receive comprehensive clinical training in all critical modalities for the management of CNS tumors including VMAT/IMRT proton radiotherapy stereotactic radiosurgery and intracranial brachytherapy. The department treats more than 2000 new patients per year with CNS malignancies providing broad exposure to both common and rare primary and secondary CNS malignancies.
The program includes a minimum of 30% dedicated time for research activities focusing on highimpact translational research in CNS tumors. Trainees will have access to extensive resources including Core facilities and talented collaborators in biostatistics and will utilize modern genomic sequencing techniques such as singlecell and spatial methods along with machine learning.
The duration of the fellowship is one year. During the fellowship year the fellow will gain handson technical experience in radiation techniques and clinical expertise in managing brain tumors. Fellows will interact and collaborate with multidisciplinary experts in medical oncology neurooncology and neurosurgery. Formal practical and didactic training will also be part of the experience. After successful completion of the fellowship the fellow will be equipped to function as an independent consultant with clinical and technical expertise in managing primary and secondary CNS malignancies.
Under directed mentorship the fellow will spend 30% of their time on research with regular meetings with mentors to track progress culminating in presentations at society meetings and peerreviewed publications. Structured training in study development research conduct and grant writing will also be provided. Financial support will be available for conference travel.
