Job Description

Job Details:

The Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking applicants for two Brachytherapy Fellowship positions for theacademic year. The fellowship is a 1year nonACGME accredited brachytherapy radiation oncology program.

The Brachytherapy Fellowship Training Program aims to provide fellows with comprehensive training in the application of brachytherapy for cancers such as GU GYN GI skin and other malignancies. The program includes handson procedural training clinical experience and research activities. The brachytherapy service is equipped with advanced capabilities including intraoperative US CT and MR treatment planning as well as a dedicated medical physics team. Fellows will also have the opportunity to deliver intraoperative radiation therapy in coordination with multiple surgical services.

Responsibilities:

  • Gain practical handson experience in performing various brachytherapy procedures.
  • Develop expertise in the clinical management of perioperative care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in medical and surgical oncology.
  • Participate in formal practical and didactic training.
  • Conduct research related to brachytherapy with up to 30% of time dedicated to research activities.
  • Present research at society meetings and contribute to peerreviewed publications.
  • Contribute to clinical trial development research conduct and grant writing.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a radiation oncology residency.
  • Eligibility for a New York Medical License and ability to obtain one by the start date (tentatively July 1 2025).
  • If not a US citizen or green card holder eligibility for an H1B visa (requires completion of USMLE Steps 1 2 and 3).
  • ABR certification/eligibility in Radiation Oncology or equivalent board certification. Canadian graduates must have passed their qualifying exams from the Royal College.
  • NYS Controlled Substance Registration.
