Roles and responsibilities
1. Patrolling and Surveillance
- Regularly patrol assigned areas to ensure they are secure and free from hazards or security breaches.
- Monitor surveillance systems, including CCTV cameras, alarms, and other security equipment, to detect suspicious activities.
- Maintain a visible security presence to deter theft, vandalism, or other illegal activities.
- Monitor entrance and exit points to ensure that only authorized individuals have access to restricted areas.
2. Access Control
- Ensure only authorized personnel, visitors, or vehicles enter the premises.
- Check identification and issue visitor badges or passes, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
- Control access to secure areas, including locked gates, doors, and other restricted zones.
- Screen individuals and belongings at entry points, such as conducting bag checks or using metal detectors.
3. Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to emergencies such as fires, medical incidents, or criminal activity.
- Assist in evacuations during emergencies, guiding individuals to safe exits.
- Provide first aid and CPR when necessary and ensure emergency services (firefighters, paramedics, police) are contacted when needed.
- Assist in controlling crowds or managing potentially dangerous situations, preventing escalation.
4. Incident Reporting and Documentation
- Document security incidents, including accidents, thefts, suspicious activities, and security breaches.
- Write detailed reports and provide accurate information regarding incidents, maintaining confidentiality.
- Keep records of daily activities, including patrol logs, visitor logs, and security equipment checks.
- Report any malfunctions in security equipment to the relevant authorities or supervisors.
5. Conflict Resolution and Customer Service
- Handle disputes or confrontations calmly and professionally, de-escalating situations before they become violent.
- Interact with the public and employees in a professional manner, offering assistance when needed.
- Enforce rules and policies respectfully, ensuring compliance without creating conflict.
- Serve as a point of contact for any security-related concerns or inquiries from employees, visitors, or residents.
6. Access Control for Deliveries and Vehicles
- Monitor deliveries to ensure that goods or services are being provided by authorized vendors and are not suspicious.
- Inspect vehicles entering or leaving the premises, ensuring they do not pose a security threat.
- Verify that all deliveries or pick-ups are recorded accurately and securely.
