Job Description

Our client a leading developer owner and operator of power generation assets is looking for an experienced Senior Lawyer to join their team in Cape Town. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high performing team working on transformational projects across the African continent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and negotiating project documents including Offtake agreements (PPAs) wheeling agreements EPC and O&M agreements finance agreements and related security agreements.
  • Providing support to achieve financial closure of projects including procuring legal opinions and conditions precedent management.
  • Managing external legal resources both from a work product and cost perspective (Lender Legal and Project/Sponsor Legal).
  • Assisting with any fundraising initiatives including supporting the commercial team in creating and managing electronic data rooms managing the lenders due diligence process contract drafting and negotiation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Law.
  • Minimum of 6 years postadmission experience with at least 4 years in project finance and/or utilityscale energy industries.
  • Proven power project transaction record gained in a wellregarded private practice firm and/or inhouse.
