Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of a Housekeeping Supervisor the person in this position is responsible for wall washing floor maintenance carpet cleaning trash collection handling and disposal of solid and biohazardous waste in assigned areas and operation of the SanIPak machine. May perform Housekeeping Assistant functions and other related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions

Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity patient care patient rights and ethical treatment safety and security of physical environments emergency management teamwork respect for others participation in ongoing education and training communication and adherence to safety and quality programs sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals and licensure and health screenings.
Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospitals policies and procedures including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.
Strips and refinishes floors. Moves furniture applies stripping solution agitates with scrubbing machine vacuums up soiled solution applies rinse with mop vacuums up rinse applies undercoat applies wax polishes with machine returns furniture and sets up room. Floor care includes baseboards doorways and corners. Responsible for cleaning the equipment that was used and reporting any needed repairs. Must observe and practice established hospital safety regulations. Employee occupation is hazardous to an extent that when stripping floors they become very slippery must use safety shoes at all times.
Operates a commercial type vacuum cleaner and attachments for floors walls furniture and for high dusting may include use of a floor polishing buffer.
Collects and separates different waste streams utilizing assistance pulling device for deliver to dock. Disposes utilizing appropriate equipment (e.g. trash compactor lift systems tipper).
Performs daily operation of medical waste treatment unit to include; running loads put liners into chambers and carts separate and place cardboard into cardboard compactor and monthly quality control testing. Monitor proper segregation is being performed or different types of medical wastes.
Maintains wall washing equipment by careful use daily cleaning and proper storage. Uses supplies as directed. Safeguards materials by proper storage. Keeps adequate wall washing supplies on hand including special flat head mop.
May perform Housekeeping Assistant duties as assigned.
Observes and practices standard precautions and hospital established safety regulations and procedures.
Recognizes and eliminates potential hazards associated with adults and children.
Reports needed minor repairs of rooms (laboratories offices rest rooms furnishing and equipment etc.). Maintains equipment supplies and materials by frequent cleaning proper storage.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Must be able to successfully complete inservice orientation and continuing education training programs.
Experience: 6 Months in a hospital or procedural setting
License/Certification: None required.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience education or licensure/certification.
Ability to establish and maintain respectful relationships with a diverse population.
Ability to learn to skillfully finish floors (application of wax and polishing).
Ability to perform varied manual cleaning and related labor; lift push operate and maintain equipment used; and keep simple records.
Ability to prioritize work assignments and use time efficiently.
Ability to speak read write and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the job.
Ability to work effectively as a team player.
Knowledge of methods equipment and materials used in washing walls floor care and maintenance and waste disposal.
Skills: Cleaning and finishing floors (vacuuming and mopping floors spray buffing wax and polish); stripping and refinishing floors; cleaning interior and exterior windows; washing large areas of wall surfaces.

Pay Range
Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.
Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education experience knowledge skills location and abilities as required by the role as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
