Job Description
Job Title: Linux Engineer (US Citizen Only)
Location: Remote
We are currently seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Install configure and maintain Linux servers (CentOS RedHat Ubuntu etc.) including both physical and virtual environments.
- Monitor and optimize system performance ensuring maximum uptime and minimal disruption to services.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using tools like Ansible Puppet or Chef and scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
- Manage configuration files system updates and patch management for Linux servers.
- Implement and enforce security policies including hardening servers managing firewalls and ensuring systems meet compliance requirements.
- Diagnose and resolve complex system issues including performance bottlenecks network problems and application errors.
- Configure and troubleshoot network services including DNS DHCP NFS Apache MySQL and others.
- Implement and manage backup solutions and disaster recovery plans for Linux systems.
- Work closely with DevOps development teams and system architects to support application deployment scalability and performance optimization.
- Maintain clear documentation on system architecture processes and troubleshooting steps.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience in Linux system administration.
- Strong experience with Linux operating systems (RedHat CentOS Ubuntu etc.).
- Solid understanding of Linux networking concepts and services (e.g. SSH DNS NFS HTTP).
- Proficient in shell scripting (Bash) and/or programming languages such as Python.
- Experience with configuration management and automation tools (Ansible Puppet Chef).
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Experience in cloud platforms (AWS Azure Google Cloud) and managing Linux environments in the cloud.
- Experience with web servers (Apache Nginx) and databases (MySQL PostgreSQL).
- Strong understanding of security best practices for Linux environments.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools like Nagios Prometheus or Zabbix.
- Federal Experience is a plus.
- Required Security clearance.
