1.Key Responsibilities
Procurement strategy development pertaining to client engagements
Works closely with Category AVP to develop a strategy for the software category with a heavy focus on top
spend suppliers and Cognizant’s most strategic partnerships.
Establishes and maintains a needsbased segmented supply base basis internal and clientfacing
requirements.
Ensures that local sourcing practices and processes conform to global procurement policies including control
and governance around direct resell transactions.
Ensures alignment to and understanding of purchasing policies and procedures to uphold purchasing
standards for every direct or indirect transaction with a third party.
Suggests and works with the Category AVP/ Procurement SLT on process improvements including more
effective ways to get involved upfront in every discussion where third party spend is involved.
Implements systems or processes to govern supplier performance and delivery especially where it has
impacts on Cognizant’s external clients.
Procurement strategy execution supporting client engagements
Leads a global team with the focus on partnering with Cognizant sales and delivery teams to understand top
(external) client priorities.
Equip internal BUs with 3rd party solutions to deliver to clients while focusing heavily on risk mitigation.
Enablement of alliances with global suppliers to support Cognizant’s strategy execution with focus on
revenue growth.
Advises sales and solutioning teams of preferred technology and supplier relationships.
Ensures that clientfacing requirements are sufficiently detailed understood and well documented to enable
an effective sourcing process.
Working extensively with Legal to ensure flowups and flowdowns are comprehended in client and supplier
contracts.
Identifies and initiates cost reduction opportunities to reduce the Cost of Goods Sold and enable margin
improvements.
Keeps stakeholders advised regarding risks or issues involving their requirements and the influences that
external forces could have on their situation.
Identifies benchmarking opportunities to enable business with the best suppliers in the market at the best
rates for our business.
Supply base management Supply base optimization market knowledge assimilation analysis and application
Analyzes data related to macro environment market sectors suppliers and software category.
Reviews prices in marketplace and develops knowledge/ identifies industry trends in order to optimize
organizational operating expenditure (Opex spend).
Monitors changes new developments operating conditions market capacity and quality issues.
Builds cost models to settle “should” cost and total cost of ownership (TCO) vital to conduct supplier
negotiations.
Recommends potential sources of supply from knowledge of market existing supplier rates/ service levels
and competitive sources of supply.
Introduces new suppliers to the business as appropriate and proactively investigates opportunities to take
advantage of developments within the supply market.
Identifies potential contract changes/additions and liaises with the supply chain’s contract management
function to ensure contracts are revised accordingly.
Recommends and implements strategies to optimize relationships with suppliers.
Works within the business supply chain policy and procedure framework to optimize the organization’s
supply base.
2.Mandatory Capabilities/ Skills / Years of Experience
Must have experience leading strategic supplier negotiations with Tech giants e.g. Microsoft Oracle SAP
ServiceNow Salesforce IBM etc
A bachelor’s degree in business Finance Supply Chain management or Computer Science; MBA Preferred.
1015 years of IT / Software & Cloud Procurement/ Sourcing experience.
Must have vast knowledge of software licensing as well as cloud telecom hardware infrastructure services
datacenter technology end user compute and mobile technologies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to explain technical contractual
concepts provide consultancy to senior leaders responsible for IT strategy and delivery to clients.
Very strong people management and leadership skills.
Proven decisionmaking and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to work globally and across all functions and departments especially Legal Finance and IT.
Excellent execution organizational skills and attention to detail
Urgency and results focus to ensure timely and appropriate response to issues raised or identified
Strong decision making and problem solving skills
Strategic sourcing of IT services including but not limited to Software with detailed knowledge of
sophisticated procurement methods and techniques.
Expertise and knowledge of software licensing maintenance services subscription fees SaaS models and
Cloud services.
Extensive experience with both software operations and strategic sourcing a must in addition to negotiating
& contracting with market leading software companies.
High competency and experience with both internal and clientfacing/ direct spend management.
Proven track record with leveraging volume of spend across the enterprise to negotiate the most effective
contract from a cost and value perspective.
Leadership experience managing a global team of IT sourcing professionals.
A demonstrated record of meeting/exceeding goals related to supplier rationalization cash savings and
process improvement. In addition experience working in a fastpaced largescale global organization
independent thinking and continuous focus on relationship building with internal stakeholders.
3.Preferred Capabilities/Skills/Years of Experience
Skilled at presenting and interacting with CSuite leaders.
ROI and TCO preparation
Experience with redlining Legal Terms & Conditions in contractual documents
Technical certifications
