We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Machine Shop Production Head. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the production operations of our VMC machine shop ensuring efficiency quality and adherence to production schedules. This role requires strong leadership technical expertise in machining processes and the ability to optimize production workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
Provide effective leadership and direction to the VMC machine shop team.
Foster a positive work environment encouraging teamwork and collaboration.
Conduct regular team meetings to discuss goals performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Production Planning and Scheduling:
Develop production schedules and plans to meet customer demands and delivery deadlines.
Collaborate with other departments to align production schedules with overall organizational goals.
Monitor and adjust production schedules as needed to optimize efficiency.
Quality Assurance:
Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure the production of highquality machined components.
Work closely with quality assurance teams to address any nonconformances and implement corrective actions.
Establish and maintain quality standards and procedures.
Machine Programming and Setup:
Oversee the programming of VMC machines to ensure efficient and accurate machining processes.
Collaborate with machine programmers to optimize tool paths and reduce cycle times.
Monitor machine setups to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
Resource Management:
Manage resources including manpower materials and equipment to meet production targets.
Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and tooling. Implement costeffective measures to optimize resource utilization.
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce and promote a strong safety culture within the VMC machine shop.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
Conduct regular safety training sessions for shop personnel.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify areas for process improvement and implement measures to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Stay informed about industry trends and technological advancements to incorporate best practices.
Encourage a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the team.
Communication:
Maintain effective communication channels with other departments such as engineering quality control and production planning.
Provide regular updates on production status challenges and successes to upper management.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering or a related field (preferred).
Proven experience in a leadership role within a VMC machining environment.
Strong knowledge of machining processes CNC programming and tooling.
Excellent problemsolving and decisionmaking skills.
Familiarity with quality management systems and standards.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
Experience with lean manufacturing principles is a plus
