Job Title: Juniper Network Engineer
Location: Remote Night Shift (Mon Thurs)
Duration: 6 months
Target Start Date: 9/15/24
Rate: $50 $55/hr on W2
Job Summary:
We are seeking experienced Juniper Network Migration Engineers to support a largescale network migration for a large high end retail establishment. The ideal candidates will have strong expertise in Juniper JunOS switching and the ability to lead remote cutover operations. Target start date is 9.15.24 through end of Q1 2025.This is a fully remote position requiring night shift work.
The successful candidate will:
- Work primarily night shifts (MondayThursday) to perform cutovers
- Be available for 12 hours during regular business hours for meetings and updates
- Collaborate closely with onsite technicians and project team members
- Adapt to a fastpaced environment with evolving project requirements
- Be comfortable with independent work and remote communication
- Note: Holiday weeks may have reduced workload and holiday pay is not currently included
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute network migrations from Cisco to Juniper platforms
- Perform afterhours cutovers primarily Monday through Thursday nights
- Collaborate with and direct onsite resources during cutover operations
- Troubleshoot layer 1 and layer 2 network issues
- Make necessary Clear Pass changes during migrations
- Conduct DNS updates as required
- Load and replace Juniper configurations
- Participate in daytime meetings for process updates and project coordination
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 3 5 years of experience with Juniper JunOS switching (core requirement)
- Proficiency in troubleshooting Juniper interfaces and logs
- Experience in converting Cisco configurations to Juniper
- Strong layer 2 and layer 1 troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with Clear Pass or similar network access control systems
- Basic Linux skills
- Command line interface (CLI) navigation and file management
- Understanding of basic Linux commands (e.g. ls cd grep cat chmod)
- Ability to edit text files using commandline editors like vim or nano
- Basic shell scripting for automation of simple tasks
- Understanding of file permissions and user management
- Familiarity with package management systems (e.g. apt yum)
- Basic networking commands (e.g. ifconfig ping traceroute)
- Ability to view and analyze log files
- Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration
- Experience directing on site team members remotely
- Ability to work night shifts and adapt to a flexible schedule
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with largescale network migrations
- Familiarity with retail network environments
- Knowledge of Versa SDWAN solutions
