Role Summary:

The Project Accountant serves to perform daytoday core project accounting functions within the company s ERP system including Project Initiation Project Monitoring/Budgeting/Forecasting Project recommendations for Revenue and Profitability Project Invoicing Project Accrual journal entries Project Revenue Recognition for deferred revenue Accounts Receivable (AR) management monthend closing activities and other adhoc tasks.

In this role you will act as the accounting finance and administration support team member for Program Managers Project Managers Service Delivery Managers and department Directors. You will closely monitor the financial progress of projects and ensure invoices are issued to customers and payments collected. You will analyze projects and recommend profitability opportunities. This role requires frequent interaction with team members from all departments to solve invoice issues project time entry revenue recognition and monthly/quarterly forecasting reports.

This position reports to the Finance Manager. This role is based in Colorado Springs Colorado and is a hybrid position. Upon employment the first month of employment is office based (flexible start and end times) for training and collaboration with team members. After the first month of employment you are encouraged to come into the office at least once/twice a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for lifecycle project accounting from creating project to tracking projects prepare invoices timely and accurately invoices should align with purchase orders and SOWs project closeout and reconciling overall project receivables to project budgets
  • Attend projectrelated meetings to inform the team regarding the status of AtRisk projects revenue and profitability opportunities and following up on any identified actions as discussed
  • Substantial interaction with program/project managers and others regarding agreement documents invoicing budgeting forecasting and revenue recognition
  • Proactively recommends action to drive revenue and profitability
  • Provide monthly performance to budget reporting on active projects
  • Assist with Resource Management to efficiently staff projects and meet profitability targets
  • Maintain projectrelated records including project jobs and change orders.
  • Identify when budget changes arise and make recommendations for contract modifications/change orders as needed
  • Review contracts and understand the contract terms regarding project type scope of work and invoicing terms
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate project data in accounting systems
  • Update and maintain the project database and generate standard and special reports for team members
  • Maintain contract documents including modifications in ERP system
  • Manage project compliance (project terms billing deadlines insurance reporting etc.).
  • Create and update dashboards to provide visibility to project performance
  • Respond to requests for more detail from clients regarding invoices
  • Monitor accounts receivable and work with program/project managers on collection efforts
  • Help create new tools to aid project teams in providing highest quality service and design quality coupled with efficient use of financial resources.
  • Compile information for external auditors as required.
  • Analyze and report on project profitability to management.
  • Remain current in latest project accounting principles and subject matter
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business need including general administrative duties from time to time

Key Competencies/Qualifications:


  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred
  • 2 years experience in a prior Project Accountant is preferred
  • Public accounting experience from a Big Four or regional firms is preferred but not required
  • Experience of GAAP and ASC606 Compliance regarding revenue recognition and the ability to interpret contracts into revenue
  • Experience of Accrual method of accounting
  • Team player good work ethic and selfinitiation
  • Excellent organization time management and stakeholder management
  • The ability to challenge and influence in a constructive and positive manner fostering collaboration and driving effective decisionmaking.
  • Ability to serve as a trusted advisor to the leadership and the Senior Leadership teams providing strategic guidance and support in decisionmaking processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite in particular intermediate to expert level in Excel including formulas (VLOOKUP and PV) Pivot tables and SUM.
  • Strong task ownership followthrough and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work on several projects simultaneously
  • Strong initiative and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Demonstrates effective use of communication tools email phone Teams meeting in person meetings
  • Proven ability to learn new skills and grow professionally

Manage and monitor Azure cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance and security Deploy and configure virtual machines, storage, and networking components in Azure. Implement and optimize Azure resources for scalability and efficiency. Work with Azure Active Directory and Office 365 Admin Portal for user and group management. Virtual Server Administration. Administer Windows servers, Domain Controllers, and Active Directory Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and general networking. Basic understanding of Cisco routers/switches and VoIP. Basic understanding of Firewalls/Gateways. Utilize PRTG for network monitoring and proactive issue resolution. Experience in working in or with data centres, ensuring hardware reliability and uptime. Perform routine audits of systems and software. Develop knowledgebase documentation.
