Our client is looking for a qualified industrial psychologist to join their team in Pietermaritzburg or Durban. The ideal candidate will focus on optimising human resources within the work environment by combining elements of psychology and management. This role involves developing effective healthy and productive employees through various intervention measures and recommendations.
Key responsibilities:
1. PROBLEM DIAGNOSTIC AND INTERVENTION PLANNING
- Be able to diagnose the organisational problems and plan appropriate interventions by:
- conducting needs and risk analysis assess client requirements and priorities
- defining the goals and outcomes of chosen psychological interventions through applying contextual knowledge techniques analytical skills and insight
- defining and setting goals for the interventions communicating these effectively to the client/s and identifying criteria for effectiveness and goal
- achievement.
2. INTERVENTION DESIGN
Be able to design appropriate interventions through:
- Applying appropriate knowledge and insights of the South African population and psychological measurement theories and techniques
- Designing and/or developing client centered solutions
- Designing or adapting tests instruments systems and methods for theclients benefit.
3. PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT
Have the ability to use psychological assessments to:
- Diagnose and assess human behaviour in a workplacerelated setting by applying knowledge theories and techniques of both psychology and
psychometrics
- Diagnose workplace related psychopathology (for example trauma stress and burnout)
- Assess individual and group perceptions attitudes and behaviours.
- Assess organisationlevel perceptions attitudes and behaviours related to structure culture and management styles and practices
- Determinate workforce characteristics or organisational structure andcontext (for example organisational design or job analysis to determine
behavioural success criteria).
4. PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
The Industrial Psychologist should:
- Enhance and/or promote individual group or organisational wellbeing and optimal functioning
- Identify and implement objectives and comprehensive personorientated interventions that enhance optimal functioning of individuals groups and
- organisations such as the implementation of practices that optimise the fit of individuals to jobs leadership training conflict resolution mediation
coaching career counselling and team development
- Design interventions to identify understand and promote various aspects of psychological wellbeing and resilience including the ability to provide shortterm counselling as part of individual and systemic interventions like posttrauma counselling crisis counselling and job stress related counselling
- Facilitate interventions for individual and group processes to ensure effective organisational functioning.
- Design interventions that introduce changes in work environments.
5. COMMUNICATION AND REPORTING
The Industrial Psychologist should:
- Communicate the results of interventions and research to clients and other appropriate stakeholders taking ethical and confidentiality requirements into consideration
- Provide verbal or written feedback on assessment and intervention results
- Compile reports on the results of assessments and other intervention outcomes
- Industrial Psychologist observes the regulatory framework professional
- standards and codes of ethics and conduct.
Requirements
- Must be registered with the Professional Board for Psychology of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and
comply with the regulations of the South African Board of Personnel Practice (SABPP).
- Must provide at least 3 reference letters of institutions/organisations where the
same/similar exercise had been undertaken
