Job Overview:
The Commercial Industrial Service Technician is responsible for maintaining troubleshooting and repairing commercial and industrial equipment and systems including HVAC electrical plumbing and mechanical systems. This role requires a strong technical background a commitment to safety and the ability to diagnose and solve complex issues efficiently. The ideal candidate has handson experience excellent problemsolving skills and is comfortable working in a variety of industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repair:
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on commercial and industrial systems including HVAC plumbing electrical and other mechanical equipment.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctioning systems and equipment replacing parts as needed to restore functionality.
- Calibrate equipment to meet manufacturer specifications and ensure peak operational performance.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:
- Identify and troubleshoot mechanical electrical and plumbing issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Analyze and interpret technical diagrams blueprints and schematics to repair and maintain systems effectively.
- Utilize software and diagnostic tools to identify root causes of malfunctions and implement solutions.
Installation & Upgrades:
- Assist with the installation of new equipment ensuring proper setup calibration and safety standards are met.
- Perform system upgrades retrofits and modifications to improve energy efficiency and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and project teams to install and commission new systems.
Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all safety guidelines and OSHA regulations maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
- Conduct safety checks and inspections of equipment to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow lockout/tagout procedures.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities repairs parts used and hours worked.
- Provide detailed service reports for management documenting completed work and any recommendations for future maintenance.
- Keep an updated inventory of tools equipment and parts necessary for service and repair tasks.
Customer Interaction & Support:
- Communicate with clients to explain repairs discuss maintenance schedules and offer solutions to improve equipment efficiency.
- Respond to service calls and emergencies as needed ensuring prompt and reliable support to minimize downtime.
- Provide guidance and training to clients on the proper use and maintenance of equipment as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance and repair of commercial or industrial systems.
- Proven experience working with HVAC plumbing electrical or mechanical systems in a commercial or industrial setting.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of HVAC electrical plumbing and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools multimeters pressure gages and other testing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints schematics and technical manuals.
- ProblemSolving:
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions to ensure minimal disruption to client operations.
- Communication:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for explaining technical issues to clients and team members.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and service reports.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and oncall for emergencies.
Education & Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; an associate s degree in industrial maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Certification in HVAC plumbing or electrical trades is a plus.
- OSHA 30 certification or other relevant safety training preferred.
- Valid driver s license required.
