Breast Imaging Department Manager
The Breast Imaging Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the breast imaging department focusing on process improvements enhancing radiologist efficiency and ensuring topnotch patient care. Working closely with the Director of Breast Imaging radiologists and the scheduling manager this role optimizes department workflows to maximize productivity and maintain a highquality patient experience.
Process Improvement & Workflow Optimization (30%)
- Lead initiatives to streamline department operations reduce bottlenecks and improve efficiency.
- Implement technologies or processes to enhance coordination among staff patients and radiologists.
Radiologist Efficiency & Support (25%)
- Serve as the main liaison for radiologists ensuring efficient use of their time.
- Assist with prioritizing urgent cases facilitating communication with clinical staff and optimizing radiologists schedules for quick report turnaround.
Scheduling Coordination (15%)
- Collaborate with the scheduling manager to ensure smooth patient appointments and balanced radiologist assignments.
- Identify and resolve scheduling challenges to improve both patient care and radiologist productivity.
Department Leadership (15%)
- Lead and guide the breast imaging team fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Ensure that all staff contribute to efficient operations and high standards of patient care.
Biopsy Tracking & MQSA Compliance (10%)
- Maintain strict compliance with MQSA requirements tracking biopsy recommendations and followups.
- Coordinate with radiologists pathologists and referring physicians to ensure timely communication of biopsy results.
Patient Care & Communication (5%)
- Act as the main point of contact for patients providing clear and compassionate information regarding imaging results followups and next steps.
- Provide support for radiologists and clinical staff related to the breast imaging program.
- Assist with administrative tasks and collaborate with other departments as needed.
- Manage a team of 510 breast navigators and support staff.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in healthcare management or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- 35 years in breast imaging or breast navigation roles preferred.
- Leadership or management experience strongly preferred.
Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and enhance healthcare efficiency.
- Strong collaborative skills for crossdepartmental coordination.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage complex workflows.
- Proficient in mammography equipment PACS systems and electronic health records.
- Knowledge of breast cancer screening processes and MQSA regulations.
- Extended periods of sitting and standing.
- Ability to lift objects up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Standard hours with flexibility for evenings and weekends as needed.
