Development Assistant
The Ronald McDonald House of Detroit provides an environment of love kindness and a support system to families during their most difficult time in life when a child is receiving medical treatment at local facilities. It is a house upon entering a home upon leaving.
The Ronald McDonald House of Detroit is working to better the lives of children and their families by creating finding and supporting programs that directly serve families who must care for children with medical conditions.
We opened as the House that love built and today our new House continues with the same heartfelt foundation of love and hope.
Position Summary Development Assistant
The Development Assistant plays an important role by providing administrative support to the cultivating and stewarding key stakeholder relationships direct mail appeals and special events. Special event assistance includes: planning and implementing events soliciting donations and sponsorships ticket sales recruiting and managing event volunteers and developing promotional materials.
Duties & Responsibilities
Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
Maintain foundation corporation and individual donor files.
Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed.
Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate foundation and individual donors.
Coordinate productions and mailing of spring and yearend appeal letters.
Coordinate all aspects of fundraising events including planning onsite management and postevent followup.
Maintain guest lists gather and prepare registration materials and other duties as assigned for fundraising events.
Serve as the liaison to thirdparty fundraisers benefitting the organization provide tours of the facility to donors and represent the organization at community speaking engagements.
Monitor and maintain the Chief Development Officers budget. Track all financial data and serve as lead for preparation and submission of annual departmental budgets
Handle all administrative details associated with the Development and Communications & Marketing Committee meetings (i.e. prepare and distribute notices agendas minutes coordinate all follow up etc.).
Manage development and printing of all collateral materials. Develop and design promotional materials through proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite programs.
Prepare media materials for distribution. (i.e. copying filing mailing emailing) and assemble media and donor kits for events and meetings.
Requirements
Knowledge and skills:
Associates or bachelors degree in a related field.
A minimum of three years experience in an administrative position preferably in a notforprofit development office
Proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint Database management experience GiftMaker Pro (or other Donor Database program used) preferred
Excellent interpersonal customer service and problemsolving skills
Ability to be self motivated and work independently with little supervision and as a member of a team
Excellent donor relations and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders. Ability to interact with Board Leadership
Ability to work flexible hours when required (evenings and weekends as needed for events)
Qualifications Prior experience with project management,relationship management, budgeting, and the creative development and production of large and small-scale fundraising events and campaigns.
Education
Bachelor s Degree in accounting, business administration
